In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University .

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air.
The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully.

He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it.
As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant
gingerly put down its foot.

The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments.
Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away.

Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenaged son.

As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where
Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground,
then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter couldn't help wondering if this was the same elephant.
Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure.
He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again,
wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs and slammed his stupid ass against the railing, killing him instantly.

So, this probably wasn't the same elephant.

great story.....but there actually are people who are that stupid! Just one year ago, here in Holland, there was a woman who visited the Rotterdam Zoo a couple of times a week to see her favorite animal, a huge silverback gorilla. The stupid bitch actually thought she had established a relationship with this animal, pulling stupid faces and showing her teeth.... Then, one day, the gorilla was in its outside resort of his cage, saw the woman and jumped over the water and grabbed her.....he dragged her along violently and bit her like 70 times before guards could sedate the animal!!!!

I'm telling you, it was fucking funny.....eventhough tragic! Bokito (the name of the gorilla) was in the news for at least a week, everybody was taking his side, he bcame a hero.....so many jokes about it!!

a few weeks ago there was a show on about a german zoo where young gorilla's
were being "trained" by their vet. basically he just went into their area,
and sat down, building a bit of a bond with the animals and if they would
let him touch their arms or examin their hands he'd give them a small piece
of candy.

they do that so the animals trust the staff a bit and they don't always have
to sedate and upset an animal when it needs care if something is wrong with
it.

anyway, so this doctor sometimes pranked the gorilla's by walking up to their
enclosure on the visitor's side of the glass and stick one of those pieces of
candy to the glass.

the gorilla's would then try to get to the candy but obviously couldn't.

after he'd done this twice, he noticed a day or so later that the gorilla's
had saved a piece of candy and whenever kids walked up to the glass they'd
quickly stick the candy up on the glass and sit back, laughing when they'd
try to take the candy

Here I was getting all teary eyed from the wonder of it all and then motherfucker got slammed
