ZombieKitten

today is a sad day

We got a notice from school that a little girl in my son's grade died on Friday. I saw 2 little girls (they are only 6 years old) sobbing uncontrollably at school when I went to get my guys.

Man, that sucks.

I've been crying for her parents for half an hour. Their pain. rose

How terrible, that poor family.

How do you explain that to your little boy? It's just so young to have to deal with death.

Life sucks, having to deal with this at any age is hard but so confusing at that age.

That's terrible. I can't what imagine her parents are going through.

I had a friend who was murdered when I was 8. I didn't really get it. It affected me, but more over time than at the time it happened.

My teachers handled it terribly. They forbade us to talk about it!! Definitely not a model for others to follow.

Thanks hug

Nowadays they will give the kids counseling, but our teachers made us wait outside in the morning for a few minutes while they composed themselves, and they finally opened the door, and kind of angrily said to us "not one word about Doug & Verna!" neutral

I hope your kids are okay!

Children can cope ( sp? ) with death better than most addults do... Just be honost..

When my stephmother died (42yrs old ) my son ( then 4 years old )saw her lying in her coffin .. I explained that she was dead, not breathing anymore... he touched her cheek.. and said "oh..Okay" grabbed his ball and resumed his game..

It's so natural for them..

Oh Charlotte... rose

yeah nod I think if the adults don't freak out about it, they will learn it is a natural thing. I cried in front of my kids, they know it made me sad. Some of Wally's classmates were crying too, so he knows it is OK to be sad. I will keep talking about her and asking about her now and then, just to give him a chance to say anything he needs to, without any pressure.

omfg Wow, how awful!!!!! hug I remember back when I was in 7th grade, there was a girl who was a year behind me (6th grade) who ran into the street after her dog. She got hit by a car, and I think she was in a coma for a couple of days. She wound up passing away, and everybody from the elementary school where I attended (Catholic school) went to her funeral. OMG, it was the saddest thing because everybody was crying. I don't think there was a dry eye in that whole church. sigh
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
