A large percentage of people fresh out of college are democrats for two reasons:

1) Our universities (and high schools, and the media) push socialism (soviet union style) and kids are too ignorant to understand the crap they're being fed.

2) They haven't had to give away 1/3 of their income yet..."tax the rich" sounds great when you're an 18-year-old know-nothing with no job, but just wait til you realize that your pathetic starting salary means "rich" according to the law.
