My favourite spooky story With apologies to anybody who's heard it before.
A middle-aged couple and their sixteen year old daughter celebrate their move into a large, old house in the middle of the countryside by buying a small puppy. After a few weeks settling in, Mum and Dad are invited to a dinner party in the nearby town (some 20 miles away) which will involve an overnight stay. They are a bit wary of leaving their daughter alone in the house, worried that she may be scared having to spend the night on her own in such an isolated place, but the daughter assures her parents that she'll be okay - especially as she's got Fluffy the puppy for company. Reluctantly the parents leave for the party, warning the daughter to ensure that all the doors and windows are locked and to call them at any time should she feel unsafe. The daughter waves them off, looking forward to having a night on her own, with a bottle of wine, doing whatever she wants. Midnight comes and goes and soon the daughter is feeling tired and a little bit drunk, so she decides to go to bed. She goes all around the house, making sure that all the doors and windows are locked and leaves one or two of the lights on around the house so that she feels less lonely and to ensure that Fluffy can find his way around the house okay. She climbs into bed and it's not long before she starts to drift off to sleep. Just before she falls asleep however, she feels a sudden tickling sensation on her foot. She immediately recognises the feeling of Fluffy's tongue licking her foot and gently kicks him away, managing a lethargic smile as she does so. Then she drifts off to sleep properly. At some point during the night, she awakens to hear a dripping noise coming from the bathroom. Bother! she thinks to herself, but is too sleepy to get up and turn the tap/faucet off properly and decides that she'll soon forget the noise and drift off to sleep again. And she does. But then she wakes up again to find that licking sensation on her foot once more. "Fluffy" she mumbles and tries to kick the dog away again. And that infernal dripping noise is still coming from the bathroom. Still, she feels too tired to do anything about it and once more drifts off to sleep... Yet again, some time later she awakens to that now familiar tickling sensation and the totally irritating drip, drip, drip noise. "Fluffy..." she moans, using her foot to push away the cause of her irritation. Once again however, she drifts off to sleep. This time, she finally manages to sleep through until morning. When she does finally wake up, she breathes a sigh of relief as it dawns on her that the dripping noise has stopped and there's no sign of that cute, but oh-so-irritating puppy. She pulls herself out of bed and, yawning, makes her way to the bathroom... There, in the bathroom sink is Fluffy. His throat has been cut and the blood which was dripping from it has long stopped but has formed a pool underneath the sink. On the mirror behind the sink, written in the dog's blood are the words; 'Humans can lick too'...

Actually, I was the one licking her foot!!! I didn't mean to kill the dog. I thought it was a beaver, so I tried to eat it.
