the invitation nobody wants to get i've been invited to my 20 year high school reunion. they found my ass and e-mailed me. NOOOOO does anyone GO to high school reunions? is it just attended by the people who were popular in high school then never had success in life after graduation? i looked to see who else was attending thus far, and that seemed to be the case. all the misfits and weirdos i hung out with either haven't responded or gave a big ol DECLINE. has anyone here been to their reunion? why in god's name did you go?!?!

Ex-Moderator | I haven't been to one yet and don't plan on ever attending. From what I could tell, my 10 year reunion was attended by about 40 people. That out of a graduating class of 636. |

i do want to see balding, pot-bellied jocks and xanax-addled popular girls who now wear elastic-waist mom jeans and kitty sweaters just like their moms did 20 years ago. i'll put it this way: if they made a video of our 20 year reunion, i wouldn't buy it but i would netflix it. if it was good, i might illegally copy it.

I vowed to never go to my reunions but the 5 year came up and I thought why not, it will at least be entertaining. It was mildly entertaining and mostly boring and I didn't remember anyone's name. The 10 year is coming up and I may or may not go. America's political system used to be about the "pursuit of happiness." Now more and more of us want to stop chasing it and have it delivered.

I went to my 10 year and it was great to see those who peaked in high school looking a hot ass mess. I was one that "blossomed" AFTER school. No one recognized me. I'm kinda looking forward to the 20 year in a few years cuz I figure it'll be even more entertaining.

Many of my friends are finding me now on myspace, much to my dismay as I barely remember anyone from High School. There are a few folks I'd LOVE to see secretly wishing they ended up miserable and alone.

i wasn't popular or unpopular when i was in high school. i pretty much just ignored everyone except the small group of weirdos i hung out with, and when school was over i'd go downtown and hang out with my "real" friends who were attending art school. so it's not like i bear heavy resentment toward the people i went to HS with, but they just kinda don't really matter to me. but i remember ten years ago, they were trying to get me to come out to this crap because apparently they thought i was entertaining or something.

Everything you said describes me exactly except I had about 2 friends and alot of club/party aquaintances (not really artistic). How the hell do they find you anyways?
And who's in charge of this crap. God help me if tax dollars are spent finding angry, crotchety 30 somethings who would rather forget about high school.

I didn't attend any of my class reunions, and don't plan to ever do so.
But I did fill out my biography section on the reunion website, and wrote outrageous lies about what has transpired in my life since graduation: that I lived as a hermit in the woods for awhile and lost my leg in a grizzly bear attack, was in prison for 12 years, and that now I work in a garbage bag factory. Then I made a point of mentioning a few classmates by name and how I couldn't wait to see them at the reunion. Strangely enough, none of those people ever got in touch.

Willy... Went to my 20... snuck out of it bored off my ass too. Found out Darrin the basketball star i walked with was gay and out and owns a fancy coffee shop/ entertainment in Riverside. Our pic is on the wall. He was the highlight of my evening. Hows that for irony?

1. Rent Beautiful Girls (if you haven't already seen it).
2. I skipped my high school reunion, but last fall I did attend the 15 year reunion for the grade ahead of mine. Growing up in a very small town it's kind of weird because a lot of my classmates still live there and I usually see them once a year when we meet at the bar around xmas time. I have to be very careful about what I say, because even though my life is far from glamorous, the fact that I live in NYC can make people act really weird. (Hard to explain.) But back to the reunion: it was more entertaining the first night--got to see the others that don't usually make it to the bar at xmas. But by the second day (when it was hog roast/BBQ) it was getting a little tedious. I mean, after the requisite, "Where do you live, what do you do?" questions, there wasn't much to talk about. I didn't really like that many of the people in my class, I keep in touch with the ones I do like and a lot of guys from the class ahead of mine (hence the invite to their reunion!). eek! it was a 15 year reunion edit [Edited 4/28/08 20:24pm]

That's brilliant. But you must promise to later put the video up on YouTube. How about this: if no one in your class knows what you currently look like, get 5 or 6 people to show up at different points throughout the reunion, all claiming to be you, finally culminating in a big brawl as to which one is the real Anxiety. Leave without ever making it known which Anxiety is the true Anxiety. Become legendary (though never again get invited to any future reunions).

Yikes! I would never go to a high school reunion. I can contact who I want from high school, and nobody else could easily track me down. That's the way I like it.
