Thoughts on Ambien? I have a 13 hour flight to Tokyo coming up, and I'm really lousy at sleeping on planes. My doctor gave me a small Ambien prescription, which I was kind of nervous about. I used to sleepwalk as a kid, and I know that's one of the risks of it. I ended up taking a test run last night, and though I think I slept fine (and no reports of sleepwalking from my BF), I have NO recollection of ever putting my book down. It's like I was reading, and then I woke up.
Anyone had any weird (or normal) experiences on the stuff?

I've heard that name before as long as it doesn't make you open up the emergency exit doors and jump out

I took Ambien for two nights about 7 months ago when I was having terrible insomnia.
It was interfering with my work and eating habits. Luckily I only had to take the sample pack of two then I resorted to using some natural methods to help me sleep. The Ambien did help me sleep both nights. I did not have an side effects, woke up fine for work in the mornings. I have trouble sleeping on planes as well. Most ppl just get drunk on the planes to sleep but I do not like using alcohol for that reason. I cannot say if it will make you sleep walk. 13 hours is a long flight. One of our recent flights was just short of 12 hrs. No fun!

My brother took it for a while and had a lot of problems. He not only was sleepwalking but eating in his sleep. But I think he took it for a while before that happened and he was taking other meds too.
You'll probably be fine if it's only short term. "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind"-Dr Seuss

I personally don't care for Ambien..not because of any side effect (personally)..it just didn't seem to work all that well for me...I LOVE Lunesta, full 7-8 hrs of uninterrupted sleep...the ONLY side effect I have had is an after taste the next morning, which kinda stinks, but getting a full nights rest is well worth it! good luck Because of God..we 2 r 1~~Darren & Suzyn forever

Ok, thanks all. Maybe I will give it a try (and just buckle my seat-belt!). I'm not taking anything else, and I have heard that that's when people get all nusto on it.

you may want to discreetly let the flight attendent know that you are taking it just in case you do sleep walk so they won't think you are a terrorist
seriously, communication is everything especially on that long of a flight I am sure they would want to know. That way if there is any eractic behavior they will know why. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou
