Women, amigas, sistas, bellas -- Why can't y'all cook?

I'm all for gender equality. I am. I promise. A woman can -- and often does -- run companies and countries, lay down basslines and railroad track, write manifestos, and repair engines as well as or better than any man.

What y'all don't seem to do anymore, though, is cook. Pardon the generalization. I'm sure some of you KILL at the stove. I'm not talking to the few of you.

I'm talking to the women I meet who are challenged by spaghetti.

The ones who think sauté is Beyonce's little cousin.

The ones whose children eat more fast food than vegetables and solid meals.

I'm troubled by the lack of cooking skills in the otherwise-wonderful women I meet. I mean, looking back on my life, I've never dated a woman who could out-and-out burn. Sure, one could make a great salad, another could whip up some cool veggie dishes, but none has ever had me begging for her cooking. In fact, of my female friends, I know of only 2 who can really throw down in the kitchen. disbelief But, I'm not into either one.

The quickest way to our hearts really can be through our stomachs.

And, it can be romantic to prepare meals as a couple. I think. I can only guess...

Do U cook for women, or are U just sitting back waiting for a meal? Has anyone ever come back begging for your cooking?

I'm just sayin'... lol

I cook hmph!

My mother is very old-fashioned so my sisters and I were taught how to cook when we were growing up. She always said that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach and that we would never get married if we didn't learn confused She's backwards like that lol confused So now I can cook, but I don't have a man. neutral

thumbs up! That's the spirit.

Don't get me wrong: Men should be trying to learn how to cook, too. It's NOT woman's work, as the saying goes.

Actually its in reverse for me. Mother didn't teach me or my sisters. My grandmother doesn't cook either. My mother gets pointers from me lol Its just something I enjoy doing. Maybe its genetic, my dad said I cook like his mother who died when he was 12. I consider it an honor since she was born and raised in the South(can't remember if it was Arkansas or Mississippi) and I've never been to any southern states at all. lol

My dad's mom taught his sisters. But my mom laments the fact that he didn't learn. lol That's why she taught me. I'm glad she did.

I can cook!

My grandmother owned a restuarant for 35 years. We all grew up learning how to cook there. She retired from it a couple of years ago and sold it. It wa sa small mom and pop resturant. But was a great place.

2 times!!! lol lol

& for the record Threaddy, I'm pretty much a non-cooker hrmph I can make some good stuff, but I rarely do it b/c I don't make the time. I need to experiment more shrug

I must say though - when I do make stuff, the dude I'm kinda seeing now is so painfully ordinary w/ his tastes. He wants fried this & smothered that - turns his nose up @ a lot of things I buy regularly (trying to eat healthier). I had to buy food specifically for his ass lol whofarted But I never fry anything ever & don't eat much red meat (his fave, of course), so that can be a challenge too when folks tastes are so different. bananadance
