It would seem, if you cook alot, the splatters would be more obvious. Any time you use beaters, a wisk, or do something messy, the wall will show telltale signs. I'd use a semi-gloss paint for neater cleanup. A matte or flat paint will stain easier. Just a thought. wink

nod That's phat. I'm going to paint this year, and change out my countertop, too. A black top looks cool, too. hmmm I should've bought a black fridge and dishwasher, too.

There's still time! My gosh, some black floor tile would look EXCELLENT!!!!

OH. MY. GOSH!!!! excited

Too much black, you need some contrast. If you go with with black walls, I'd do stainless steel appliances, and countertops with black in it but not as the dominant color, like a nice colorful granite. What material are you thinking of for the counters?

No, I'm joking about converting to a complete black look. Wood is a consistent feature and my appliances are white. It would be done as an accent, not as a super-dominant color.

i guess i just like a sunnier kitchen. it's the seasonal affective sufferer in me - when i get up in the morning, i want to be greeted by bright happy sunny colors when i take that first whiff of coffee. that black kitchen photo is NICE, don't get me wrong, but that's more for a hip dinner party, or for making someone pancakes the morning after, if you get my drift. it would be a good hangover kitchen, but not really an ideal "good morning sunshine" space for me and my bowl of kix.

Also, you can't wipe off matte or flat paint cuz you'll take the paint off, but eggshell is wipeable. My painter said you should use eggshell in kitchens and bathrooms because of the higher humidity and proximity to water.

i will admit that i'm not huge on the angular/asian/minimal thing, though if i were visiting someone and they had that kitchen i would be very impressed as long as it were someone else's kitchen and not mine. lol

Black linoleum is as far as I would go and its pretty typical and looks well/classy nod

I would NOT do any kind of glazed black tile especially anything 12" by 12" shake

I have a friend that painted their shower black. That is a seriously disturbed individual.

Speaking of color. I have a client who changed her name in the 60's when she was a drugged out hippie to Cori Ander. Like the spice. Now she wants to change it to Fiona Grey because she loves the name Fiona and her favorite color is grey. Who's favorite color is grey? That's disturbed.
