Girl talk. My friendship ended. Girl talk. My friendship ended.
I remember the Cosmopolitan Magazine ad, like it was yesterday... "The most eligible bachelor on Earth is looking for the most beautiful girl in the world, to spend the rest of his life with." Send Photo... I sent my black and white photo with a letter saying that I would love to be her, however, I was 4 months pregnant at the time, and I am sure I would be declined, although I wanted to respond. I told my pretty Italian girlfriend about the ad. She had owned only the "1999" album at the time and didn't even really listen to Prince...She had little interest in Motown, classic rock, or music I was interested in...Our tastes were extememly different. She mailed in her photo and was asked to mail in a video tape. Which I helped to film a portion of it. She was sent for and spent 3 days in Chanhassen. I honestly from the bottom of my heart was very happy for her, especially in my pregnant condition...However, when she returned, I got a little mad...and years later our friendship ended. I broke it off. And I miss her, but oh well. She gets back and we meet at a restaurant, so I can hear all of the details of the trip, and she strolls in wearing a black leather jacket with Prince's picture on the back. She tells me, that she had photo's taken one day, went to a concert at the "Glam Slam" Sat with Prince and had a brief conversation....Prince told her that she could go into the store and have whatever she wanted....and that was it. So I said, what did ya get? She says...This jacket, a white bath robe, a couple of T-shirts, and a few other small items. My girlfriend gave me a two dollar pin..with the symbol on it. Which I did appreciate, and put on my coat and it's still there on a jacket I don't wear anymore. I glued it onto a leather jacket. Anyway... Her picture is featured on the center of "The Most Beautiful Girl In the World" Album. This was underneathe our friendship as the years went happily by, and we went shopping, and out to breakfast once a month, and talked on the phone about life for seven more years...I had her baby shower for her. We were friends....Other things lead to our differences of opinions, however....In our last conversation where I ended the relationship, we discuss the Prince trip 2 Minnesota....She adds after all those years that Mayte was there...next to Prince...which she never mentioned b4...and then I said, all I wanted was a damn T-shirt...out of all of that stuff...and she never even gave me anything but the pin...I said that was mean of her, when I was the Prince fan. She said..."You are being petty....get over it!" I said u know what...If Prince heard this I bet he'd think u were petty...hung up...haven't spoken to her since 2004....Can U believe that...am I wrong? I did try to call her in 2006, but I couldn't find her. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

That just goes to show you, everyone doesn't think like you. How many times Have I said"I would never do that" But to someone else it is okay. I would have told the whole story,Mayte and all. I would have made sure you got more than a pin. But the way she saw it, you set the whole thing up for her, so she thought you wanted it to be her experience. You were looking for a shared experience. Sometimes we have to make our thoughts and desires clear. Some people are not good at reading clues we give out.

So your girlfriend was lucky to have Prince call her to MN.
I think if you were expecting something more for your services then you should have approached it in a more business manner despite your friedship, like told her you would like her to bring you back something memorable. Otherwise if you value your friendship with her just forget it and move on. :two cents:

He did! He wasn't wearing any underwear at the time too. This is a true story. Yeah? Sad thing is that Prince doesn't swing that way.

I can be a girl. What do you all think? Does Prince like pink underwear or purple underwear on girls? None

All I can say is this, I guess u learn in life that somehow with your closest friends, you expect what u deliver...If u deliver trust...u expect it...
A T-shirt wouldn't have ruined my friends day...seeing as that it didn't cost her a dime, and if she was gonna hide the fact that Mayte was there...why not hide all of the merchandise too. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

She hurt my feelings.....I would have gotten my friend a T-shirt from her favorite artist had it have been the other way around... "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Today I touched myself in private places while looking at the cover of Dirty Mind. Am I bad now? I haven't done this ever since Dez left the band; I was SO mad at Prince. The bad thing is, I came too. That makes me double bad and Jehova will hate me for using Prince as a false idol. I lost eternity! What must I do? With all my love, Trudy. smart ass!

You're still fuming over something that happened like 14 years ago??

Sounds like you've got sour grapes because she wasn't thinking about you on her trip to see Prince. So what if you would've bought her a tshirt or whatever. If you wanted something you should've asked for it. You shouldn't expect your friend to read your mind or see through your passive jealousy and then blame her when she doesn't get it. Sounds like you're the one not being a good friend. Please don't take this as a diss. I really am trying to give u an honest opinion in an effort to help you out. I graduated bitches!!! 12-19-09

Assuming this is true, my guess is you know -- or at least suspect -- how flaky this is of you. You haven't spoken to her since 2004. If you were completely resolved in the fact you were in the right, you likely wouldn't be posting about this 4 years later.
Make right... and don't assume she needs to concede anything to you. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

if the friendship was real u wouldn't have been annoyed that she didn't get u anything, and if it was real and honest she would have got u something, BUT she didn't and u are.
what does that tell u? true friendships come out of honest love , respect 4 one another being honest, love M

I don't know what's worse - that you're trippin' off this bullshit for so long or that you glued a pin to a leather jacket
Yea, she could have brought you back something more significant but really - what would that t-shirt mean all these years later?? Not a thing (unless you're goofy... then again, you still have that pin )... If she's a selfish person overall that would create situations/bad feelings & give you more reason to break off a friendship. But if you really did it over a t-shirt you didn't get?? & quit gluing things to leather! pins are for suckas

No, our relationship suffered many differnces of opinion through the years...Those just happened to be the last words that were said.... All I expected from my friend through the years was trust...and when someone is offering half, of what u do...eventually u contemplate moving on....and when I did, that just happened to be where it ended, because that was the first sign, of doubt in honesty. And I did not expect anything... but we are talking about a rich girl, okay. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight...

Sounds more like you were expecting a T-shirt, not trust. And from the details you told alone, it seems like you held a grudge over expecting to get a $15 t-shirt that you never even asked for. You should've just been happy for her. THAT is true frienship in my eyes - Giving without expecting anything in return. "Friendship? or a T-shirt? hmm...I think I'll go with T-shirt."

I know it's sounds strange...and I am a very forgiving person..but if u honestly wanna know...It pisses me off that she is on the center of the vinyl record...and wasn't even a fan...just a pretty girl...that jumped into the contest....
Seven years later she only owned one more Prince cd...What they heck did she need with any of the merchandise that Prince gave her...she stuck it all in her closet, and it sat there....She never wore the jacket again...She probably wore the robe...two t-shirts went into folded oblivion, when I would have worn a Prince T-shirt proudly after he stuck me on an album cover. This is just an exaggerated statement...It would have been like me saying to my best friend...I just won a Thousand dollar shopping spree, and they did a commercial of me....here's a candy bar. I appreciate the objections...however, our friendship's end, came down to Spiritual differences, political differences, musical differences, parenting differences, the friendship turned out to be more challenging, than I expected...and when it came down 2 it...she was very highly opinionated about everything.
The way she expressed her adamant behavior over pro-choice, lost my respect...let me repeat...the way...she expressed...her opinion...about abortion.....lost my respect...along with other things...however, I would have continued to love her, had she not have called my opinions a pain in the ass. I think that's funny, but what really made me mad, about this whole thing, is that she never mentioned Prince and Mayte sitting next to eachother...She acted like her and Prince had a private conversation...that comes out 5 years later...that was just unnecessary withholding information...what about the whole truth, as the basis of a friendship...
