Kobe to win MVP - Looooong overdue:

http://www.latimes.com/sp...8282.story

The idea of Kobe Bryant as the most valuable player is laughable considering that the Lakers should not even employ him. Tell me another job where an employee can rip apart other co-workers in public and repeatedly chastise the management and stay employed. And it's not as if the Lakers were running away with the league before the Gasol trade. That gift from Memphis is what made them roll, so perhaps he should be the MVP.

I'm sure Kobe will let you know how he feels when he drops 26 a game vs Ronnie Freakin' Brewer and AK47. lol

And please - Get over it. There are tons of players that rip their front office, YOU just have a PERSONAL ISSUE with the dude.

I don't recall any of those players winning an MVP award. And rarely has a player taken it to the lengths that Kobe has. In a way, he is perfect for Los Angeles, as his selfish antics are perfect fodder for Hollywood tabloids and celebrity-obsessed media. That the Lakers sold their soul to keep him repeatedly after his various rants says a lot about their organization, in my opinion.

Congrats to Kobe - he deserves the MVP. There's no question he's the best player in the NBA. This should have been his second MVP, but we won't get into that.

...and Chris Paul = THE TRUTH. What a performance against the defending champs.

The Spurs will make adjustments, so the young Hornets have to take care of business at home. Can't afford a split.

I'll admit that I'm biased when it comes to Kobe. I think he is one of the worst role models sports has ever seen. It's a shame all that talent had to go to such a bad person. I wouldn't argue with him winning a most "talented" player award, but his effect on team chemistry makes the notion of him as the most valuable player seem absurd to me.

AI was relatively well-behaved back then. In any case, I'm not going to sweat the MVP award. Hopefully it will swell Kobe's ego to the point where he gets over-confident. lol

http://www.latimes.com/sp...8282.story

It took 12 seasons, but Kobe Bryant has finally been selected the NBA's most valuable player, The Times has learned.

Sources familiar with the outcome who were not authorized to speak publicly about the award until the official announcement from the league said Commissioner David Stern will be in Los Angeles next week to present the trophy to Bryant.

I'd pretty much agree with you except for the fact that you can't say that THIS year about Kobe which is why he deserves the MVP. Especially with the way that they came into this season. He wanted out of there and the team pretty much felt the same way except they knew they couldn't get an even trade for him because there's no such thing with Kobe Bryant. Just like MJ, as much as you can hate the guy (i don't hate him like i hated MJ) he's by FAR the most talented player in the league. And for some reason, something in him clicked this season and he did what most people said he wasn't capable of doing MAKING THE OTHER PLAYERS ON HIS TEAM BETTER. If you looked at this roster at the beginning of the season and thought they'd have the #1 seed in the West you'd have been called crazy. Kobe did that. So you gotta give him his props.

Oh, and GOOOOO PISTONS!!!!!
(tsk tsk. poor lil Magic.)

Wow. Dra-ma! And all this coming from a fan of a team that had Karl Malone, who didn't claim his daughter until she "blew up" from playing college ball. The same Malone who doesn't even have a relationship with his OTHER son, who just got drafted into the NFL and Malone says "It's too late to have a relationship, go make your own money". Wow. eek

Hold on, MF. Not excusing Karl, cuz he ain't shit in the fatherhood department, BUT he's had a relationship with that girl and her twin brother at least since they were in junior high school. They used to spend time with his family in Utah all the time. He didn't JUST acknowledge her. Besides, there are always at least two sides to a story and we haven't heard him say anything about Demetrius Bell yet. Carry on. . .

I remember seeing them on NBA Inside Stuff years ago talking about it and I thought they were really young, but turns out he met them for the first time when they were 17 in 1998. Still a long time before she made it to the WNBA. Here's a partial article from Jet:

We'll see about that! Utah needs to find it shooting touch again. They can't afford to shoot around 40% and expect to win, as they did against Houston. If they can keep up the good rebounding and find their shot, they have a solid chance at evening the series up at 1-1.
