Frisco was about 20% more for housing. That was 4 years ago.

Maybe, in SF itself. But it's a small city. Sort of like Manhattan or Beverly Hills/Santa Monica. You can live in Brooklyn, Oakland, the Valley.

but you could be right, SF could be a bit more.

See, here I am again thinking about the border cities. I've never lived in SF itself, always Oakland or some other surrounding city. SF is expensive, up there w/ NY. But when we talk LA, what part are we really talking? That's my problem, I think of LA as that whole glob of cities/border cities which I guess I shouldn't shrug

You gotta be kidding! Aren't SF & NY at least on par w/ each other? LA has to be cheaper confused Maybe I'm thinking of border parts of LA hmmm

It could have changed.....my info is old. I think currently N.Y. and Frisco are both more expensive than L.A. but not by much.

Exactly, if you thought of SF in the same terms as "LA," then you could be talking about living in San Jose or Hayward.

Why are people saying NYC has crappy winters? We got NO snow this year. NONE. The temperature never goes below zero degrees F. In fact, I can count on one hand when it hit single digits this past winter. Minneapolis has crappy winters. Buffalo has crappy winters. Any eastern Canadian city has crappy winters. NYC doesn't.

No we didn't. I don't think we've had any snow or much snow the last 2 winters. It hasn't even been as cold as it has been in the past.

I was wondering the same thing, you get winter, but it isn't that bad. New Jersey wasn't terrible either. Boston? Shit, that's a shitty winter.

If you are visiting, I have to say NYC. Otherwise you're going to have to rent a car. Also NYC has more to see in terms of museums and historical buildings.

However if you want to see Celebrities, LA is your best bet.

It was June when I was in NYC I think and it rained nearly all the time for the 2 weeks I was there bawl.
Apart from that it was okay, but not nearly as impressive as I imagined it to be. The things I disliked the most was the noise and the long distances. I have never been to LA, but I don't think I would like it there. If I had to choose I'd visit NY again, because I would meet you kiss2.

That it takes you forever to go from one place to another. I know LA must be even worse shrug. But I hated all these hours I spent in the subway mad .

You have no idea. The subway cars are air-conditioned, but there will always be that one mysteriously empty car that only after you walk in, you realize is a furnace. And you don't really smell the homeless people that live in the subway in the winter, but in the summer you want to be as far away from them as possible.

Next time you need to stay with someone that lives in Manhattan (that isn't me, sorry). Everything worth seeing is no more than a 20-minute subway ride away.

I don't know anyone who lives in Manhattan bawl. And I liked Brooklyn, apart from the noise. It reminded me a lot of London and I love London woot!! The friend I stayed with just sent me a message yesterday after I haven't heard from him in a long time that he is looking for work in NY (he has been in Florida the last years I think), but I am very sure he won't move to Manhattan cry.

I've lived in So Cal damn near all of my life. Apart for living in New York for about 7 months. I've been to New York several times. I'm not going to bash New York because I've lived in California. I LOVE New York. U have people who bash California and they have never even been here before. It's been "hip" to hate on California for years. That shit's been played out. It's the "I'll just say what everybody else says about California" type thing when really they have no clue cuz like I stated, they've never ever stepped foot here. NY and L.A. has similarities like many big cities have. Great nightlife, great places to eat, etc. All major cities have that. But to answer the question; If u dig warm weather and great beaches, definately L.A. If u dig culture, tall buildings and serious hustle and bustle, New York.

You need to earn a lot of money or have five roomates and live in a closet to live in Manhattan. Where I am is quiet. batting eyes Except on Saturday nights in the summer.

It might take you the same amount of time to get to the Bronx Zoo by subway, though. sad
