If so, what happened to the twin! I think when it came time for the egg to split, it didn't do it all the way. I wonder if the baby has more then one set of organs, or even a larger brain. Proud Memaw to Seyhan Olivia Christine ,Zoey Cirilo Jaylee & Ellie Abigail Lillian

The baby, Lali, apparently has an extremely rare condition known as craniofacial duplication, where a single head has two faces. what a beautiful baby nice to know that she's being accepted and treated well in India. I can't say I would expect the same if she was born her in the U.S.

I wonder if she'll be raised as a god actually. Would be interesting to see. I've always been fascinated by The Dali Lama's upbringing too. I mean , to be raised with completely different standards than everyone else--not just an 'elite' class amongst others, like celebrity children, royal children, etc--who do have peers... But completely unique with no equal--it has to be strange. They sort of did that with a boy born witha tail and was seen as the monkey king

not to rain on the beautiful two faced baby parade or anything but i wonder about the kinds of health problems that she is going to face as she gets older. It's great that she's seen as a miracle and not a curse but the state of her health and her health care are going to be an on going issue.

But completely unique with no equal--it has to be strange. Though the DL too does in theory have the Karmapa Lama and Panchen Lama, among others, almost as peers, if it weren't for the way he's become so politically minded and internationally prominent. He's just the highest lama of the most prominent sect. The reincarnations of other lamas go through that 'unique' upbringing to some extent. . [Edited 4/8/08 20:52pm]

JustErin said: SupaFunkyOrgangrinderSexy said: Who's on first?! Do you at least now understand why you see these kinda of things happening in India? In the western world, prenatal scans mean parents can opt out if this happens to them and they find out early enough, and in many other countries this child would be killed at birth due to superstitious beliefs (you hear what happens to albinos "ghosts", twins etc) those children are not spoken of, it is as if they were never born

Good heavens her parents are attractive people. except that she probably will and whether or not she'll be able to be treated adequately is the first thing that I though about when reading the article (as short as it is). Miracles do happen though.
