Great post, noimage... I didn't think you ever left P&R... lol

As I stated to coolcat, I too am a fan of psychological horror. That's the stuff that's had the biggest impact on me. More than anything else, I'm a fan of 70's horror. Love the classics from that era: Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby (60's), Psycho (60's), The Omen, Carrie, Halloween, Black Christmas, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Suspiria, etc.

I'm gonna have to check out more of those original J-horror flicks you suggested. Sir Psycho pretty much said that same thing you did about restoring faith in the genre.

Thanks for the clips... the ones I posted were just some of my favorite scenes. Stuff that, still to this day, gives me goosebumps. Particularly that clip from 'Curtains'. That hag mask on the guy in skates is just, whoa....

I have to leave P&R every once in a while, or I'll end up in a straitjacket or jail. lol Hold up..wasn't there a scary movie from the 70's called Straitjacket? hmmm Have to go look this up now. Edited to add that yes, there was a movie called Straitjacket with Joan Crawford actually from 1964 and directed by William Castle. I knew I remembered it.

That's the only clip I did not recognize. "Curtain." I don't think I ever saw that. The mask was shake. I'll have to rent that one.

The first Hellraiser....definitely the best one. I forgot about Phantasm. I hated that ball and those little midget monk thingys. brrrrr

Rosemary's Baby is a classic. The first Omen with Gregory Peck. Great films. They just don't make them like they used to. sad

I know that makes us sound like stogies, but I'm so in agreement with you on that. As it pertains to horror, the element of suspense is practically lost on today's films. Much of what people refer to as 70's horror could easily be categorized as suspense/thrillers. What we rely on CGI for today, many 70's actors could accomplish with the expressions on their faces.

Well, it's true, unfortunately. How many slasher films can you watch before being bored to death? lol Seen one Saw, saw seen them all. I will say that Hostel had me OFF the edge of my seat, and made me not want to see the sequel. But, that was because the gore was so over the top. They lose the true scare factor when they totally rely on blood and guts.

I have never seen this movie, violator. Thanks. Have to rent it now. Here are a few clips from that movie I posted about...Possession. With Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani.
