see i feel the same way about people who say monogomy or no. in the begining yes but you never know what the future brings.

Some people know what they want. I won't accept anything else from a partner. There are guys who want nothing but an open relationship, or don't even want a relationship at all. They know this, it's acceptable and they're up front about it.

i tried for a long time to make a nogogomus realtionship work. what hindered it aside from the two of us growing a in different dirctions was his unwillingness to be more open about trying new things sexually.

It's cool. It just means that the shift was acceptable within your limits. The limits of others will be different, naturally.

i guess. 5 and half years of an on again off again relationship takes it's toll. i'm taking the next two years or so not dating.

i think more and more, though, gay couples are following more monogamous/heteronormative models because it satisfies a pressure to be seen as a valid family unit by mainstream society. not that i agree or disagree with that decision - but i do think it's a strong reality.

i dunno. like i said because of my involvement in a certain part of the community, btw what are you doing memorial day weekend, i don't see alot of heternomoative beheaviour. even the straight people i know don't follow that model.

uhh...grilling tofu pups? confuse lol

no, i see what you're saying, and if i were living in the same population as you, i would probably see a different attitude than i've encountered over the past six or seven years. you have to remember, i live in the midwest. lol

i haven't lived in chicago for nearly a year. catch up, boy!

and even in chicago, there was a huge distinction between the leather community and what was considered the "respectable" gay community. i'm sure you're aware of that kind of attitude. it was a lot easier to openly be part of a subculture in a place like NYC, where identity roles weren't so rigidly scrutinized.

Me, too. Ultimately you find the person that complements you best. Everyone, gay and straight, has different standards for their relationships, but I just have to laugh when I'm told I'm "conforming to the straight agenda" or some shit like that simply because I don't fuck around. lol

you are only conforming if you look down on those who have open relationships.

i will say most people i know are in some form of open relationship but i think that has more to do with the section of gay world i'm in.

I think it's a lot more realistic than marriage. But it all comes down to agreements. I don't think it should be so open where there is no committment to anyone or anything. I also think people put way too much gravity on sex in relationships.

What's interesting is that Chicago has a leather community and IML is there etc. But I think they have very few leather bars.

Are leather bars going by the wayside? I think they are.

there aren't many in SF either. the internet killed most of the Leather bar scene. however it's starting to make a comeback.

I know. lol Just because you're monogamous doesn't mean you're not having wild sex whenever and wherever you want.
