Can't someone simply find her "ugly"? And obnoxious?

I have to know - how is she "obnoxious"?? confused We all have our tastes so it's not necessarily a problem that you personally find her "ugly", but to put it in a magazine is another story - THAT is "obnoxious" neutral

That's my point. Each year Maxim releases a Hot 100 list, and it gets plenty of pub. The point being that Maxim has come to be an authoratative source for this sort of thing (similarly, as People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive' or 'Most Beautiful People' issues). Conversely, if that same source puts out a list of 'unsexy' (ie unattractive) women, it risks carrying that same authority.

It's just mean-spirited and unnecessary.

I have never found her attractive (but then, I don't like girls in that way... lol). She seems nice. I heart SATC, even though Carrie is my least-favourite character.

Are you guys really surprised?

I mean, North American culture is obsessed with trashing celebs. Look at how many Perez Hilton type sites are up and running...look at how many people on this site say they love to read sites like that. Look at shows like TMZ. Look at how mean we all are with celebs on here.

I think she's unattractive and that has nothing to do with her not being faked out and plastic. I just don't find her attractive at all. It's ok to think someone is unattractive. I don't think it's ok to be utterly cruel about it.

But hey...we've all pretty much said mean things about people.

The article is definitely in poor taste but it's no surprise because we live in a society of poor taste as entertainment.

I agree.

Really, she should be flattered she topped this list. lol Considering she actually has class (in spades), a foreign concept for most of the women in Maxim, I think she's doing pretty well. Unsexiest in Maxim-speak is actually a compliment.

This is true. I guess for me it's the 'authority' that Maxim seems to carry in doing something like this, and I alluded to it in an earlier post. I mean who gives a shit what you or I think about how somebody looks on a Prince fansite message board? It definitely speaks to the obssession you spoke of, but it carries no weight at the end of the day.

This thing just seems very wrong.

Actually, I believe it totally does carry weight. When you say something cruel, when I say something cruel...when it goes on and on with others joining in. It makes an impact. In general many people follow the lead of others and in turn what you get is a bunch of people saying cruel shit about someone that they would never, EVER want said about them or someone they cared about. This is exactly why we have sites solely dedicated to humiliating people.

We are all part of this problem and I simply do not understand when people get all upset about something like this when most of us feed right into it in one way or another.

Don't get me wrong...I think the whole Maxim phenomenon is pathetic, but these guys wouldn't be printing such cruelness if there wasn't such a thirst for it.

Again, for me I see a difference between people bantering about on a message board and a magazine that sets itself up as an authority on standards of beauty. I'm not saying Maxim is Vogue or Cosmo or anything like that. But I wouldn't put it on par with Perez Hilton or TMZ either. Or maybe I'm expecting too much from Maxim. Journalistic integrity and all...

Hey you really thought my post was brilliant?

Is it better than the other contributions on this thread?

If you're not comfortable saying it here, you can orgnote me. Thanks.

Empress

I would never say SJP is the "unsexiest" woman of the year, however, I think her looks are very average. If you take away her designer clothes and the stylist that tells her how to dress and what makeup to wear etc, she's a very, very average looking woman.

I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but IMO she's far from gorgeous.

You know, I just looked it up and today is her birthday, she turns 43 today.

It's clearly a bad shot, sure, but everyone has great and not so great photos of themselves. I think it's nice to see a hollywood lady not afraid to show her age.

I love her, I'm not hating...trust me! But even on Sex and the City there are scenes where she is not looking hot...at all. She's one of those people who look better with the right clothes and hair. Shave her head, take off the fashionable clothes and you don't have much.

But who cares, I love her! woot!

The fact is she has stayed natural in a botox world, I applaud her for it.
Only thing important is, she seems happy..she is in a marraige that has lasted 11 years, and she has a sweet son. Who cares what some crazy magazine has to say.

it really shows how limited some ppl think.

Actually...LOOKS and sex appeal don't necessarily go hand in hand. I've met quite a few unattractive men and women who are sexy as hell.

This is mean-spirited.

Sarah is cute. I think people are so use to plastic looking people nowadays that just a regular chick gets instantly labeled as UGLY.

She's not ugly and I think she pulls off "sexy" pretty well.

Can't someone simply find her "ugly"? And obnoxious?

Once again.....this isn't about her being ATTRACTIVE in my opinion. Sexiness isn't about a pretty face. its about your swagger, attitude, etc.

To me, proving she's pretty isn't the issue. Sex appeal is a different thing. There are pretty women who aren't sexy.

I agree. I can actually see how guys would find her sexy - her hair, her body, her style, the way she moves, etc.

Actually, I thought that even though most men don't find her good looking they do find her sexy.

She's not that pretty, but I like that she became a sex symbol & style icon despite not being as cute as some other actresses.

Her personality won people over (her bod in such films as LA Story & Honeymoon in Vegas didn't hurt either), and I think that's a good and rare thing these days.

You have to take these lists with a grain of salt. The fact that any of these women are on the list at all means that they're being considered & compared to gorgeous models. Courtney Love, Amy, Britney, Sarah, are all women who at least have appeared sexy at times.
