I've lost 10 pounds... And been playing with these ten for two and a half months..
OK so one week I'm on my A game and one week off. But it was steady coming off and then I got a trainer....and now it's one week gain 3 next week lose 4. But...damn everytime I put on clothes they get looser and damn my hips are getting so streamlined! I swear my clothes fit better and I can buy a smaller size....dude, wtf??? SHIT! never heard of the first 10 pound plataeu! I've lost weight before and never hit a gliche until the first 40 drop... What's the deal? When will the steady loss return? But...my trainer is so worth it...I've NEVER worked this hard, not even when I was half marathon training

no, silly!
I see results, but not on the scale! I'm impatient, when will it happen?

I see results, but not on the scale! I'm impatient, when will it happen? As I understand muscle weighs more than fat... ...That sorta explains why you see results but the scales weigh the same... ... Keep at it and that will change

You're gaining muscle and losing fat. Muscle weighs more than fat but because the fat is dropping off you see results in the way you look and the way your clothes fit.
Don't worry about the number on the scale. Go by how you look and feel. [Edited 3/27/08 17:07pm]

Except in that damn Step class. Yeah I guess if I just keep plugging there will be so much muscle that my body won't be able to help it but lose the weight. But I have been nervous about this same 10 pounds I've been playing with for two months

I know if I workout I could loose more but Im just not getting to the gym right now I have changed...but have been kind of crashing for two days and then eating too much the next day cause I'm so hungry...so it makes sense that this would happen duh.. But there are weeks when I am on it, write down every morsel that I eat and gain that week. I weighed in one day and I put on three and I swear I wanted to cry right there. I have not weighed in this week yet, but I think I am figuring out why I'm up and down. There are weeks when I do not feel like cooking or grocery shopping and I eat at restaurants. THe calories and foods are accounted for, but that does not take into account the salt. Last week I didn't eat out at all and I dropped a lot. I guess since she's putting a lot of muscle on me (she says she want 10 pounds of muscle added) I think I may have to be tighter with the food. Tighter than I ever used to be. But damn, I want a day to kick back and have a few drinks and wings here and there! I'll figure it out...

Great job so far!
maybe you should start measuring yourself rather than weighing, if you need to see more actual results. I measured my waist yesterday and found that I had lost 3 inches If you will, so will I

I'd even get mad when I'd only lose 1/2 a pound. I started back on my super strict diet this week, but I'm only on day 3. I've got no gym to go to anymore, and no time to do it with my second job, but that job keeps me active and the weather will be warm enough to start my 4.5 mile walks within a week or so (I'm hoping). |

I guess we'll just keep plugging, you know?

I guess we'll just keep plugging, you know? I should say, I'm super strict on weekdays. I take my weekends "off", but I don't go crazy. I'm just allowed a bit more freedom. I've read that people who eat "right" and follow their diet about 80% of the time tend to do best with longterm weight loss. I really don't eat poorly anyway, but I've been slacking the last few months and I can tell my clothes are getting tighter. So time to get back to where I was. |

I like weighing myself when I get up in the morning, it always seems to be less at this time but I can relate to that gaining weight when you have been trying so hard, so frustrating I am following the South Beach diet as closely as possible but I know if I combined the diet with some working out I would do so much better Working out is always good though, Congratulations on the weight loss and on sticking with your workout program Rhythm floods my heart♥The melody it feeds my soul

The scale can be tricky - there's no way in hell I'd weigh myself every day, too much pressure. Even when you weigh weekly you have to account for bloat around period time, which always fucks my weight up...
I heard a good tip on Tyra the other day from Steve Harvey - after 3pm he only allows himself to eat meat & veggies, absolutely no carbs. My time would have to be later, I think I could try to adopt that for dinner until I lose all I want. & I say this as I fuck UP a bowl of Sun Chips It's tough man, just keep going . Forget the scale, if your feeling the extra strength and energy thats the result right there. I think strict dieting is a mistake. Every time I've gone on a 'no dairy/no carb/no fat/no sugar' kick I'll break it with something like a ridiculously huge disgusting bowl of ice cream, with extra cream and covered in chocolate pudding with chocolate sauce or a massive serving of greasy chips that I would never, EVER eat if I hadn't gone on that stupid diet to start. I allow myself a little of everything. I watch my sugar intake so hardly ever any soda (only as a mixer with alcohol which I don't drink often), I'll have green tea instead of regular tea of coffee so I cut out the milk and the sugar. If I have 5 cups a day like I normally do it adds up. I can't imagine not having bread, so I've got to have carbs but it wont be white bread it'll be wholegrain or rye, mostly because I like the flavour better. I like fish and chicken and I don't eat a lot of red meat, I wanted to go vegan and did for a couple of months but I craved steak like I never have craved any other food before. I love fresh fruit and vegetables, the more the better, and I try to avoid processed foods but their convenience means sometimes I have them. I think calorie counting and getting into gram percentages per serving gets too much like hard work.
