You guys are extremely good at English.


not just the basic grammar , etc., but the actual nuances of our humor. I noticed that you understand both the dry, almost lifeless British humor, as well as the more vibrant, totally superior American humor. You also understand sarcasm very well.


How did you learn English?
Do most of your friends speak it to the same skill level as you?
Do you ever fee self-concious about it when you speak as opposed to typing?


I find all of you fascinating with your skills: rushing07, Hamsterhuey, Istensteak, Jami0Mckay, serious, teacher, CarrieMpls etc. etc.

My English is not nearly as good as the English of the Dutch orgers . So I don't always completely understand the humour and sarcasm .

I learned it at school.
No most Austrians (including some of my friends) are not very good in English, not saying that I am, but I am definitely above average.
My typing is a lot better than my talking .

But the subtitles thing you mention is IMO one of the main reasons why dutch peopel are so perfect with their English. They have the original American movies subtitled on TV. I wish it would be like that here .

When I was in Padderborn, my buddy took me to a Tent festival of sometype. There was music, LOTS of drinking, and just a great atmosphere.

From out of nowhere the best looking older German fella (in his 40's) did a little flirtatious dance in front of me. Just an innocent thing, but cute.

Once I got down to Munich all the hot men were Turkish Immigrants.
And in Salzburg I had no clue who was Austrian or not it was so touristy.
