I mean, if someone asks for my opinion, I always give it, even when it is negative. I was sincere in saying that Dan's highlights make him look like a pansie, for instance. Something he did not want to hear cuz he wanted me to tell him it looked good on him. But I can't lie. You could have pulled the highlights off my head and spanked me until I promised never to get them again. Believe me, I wish I had. But it was too late; you had pics taken and now it is out there, for ever.

If someone is going to be insincere with me they better be really good at it, I can smell it a mile away. They wont even know I've caught on. They just wont see me around anymore. I assume that everyone is being sincere with me unless I have a real good reason to believe otherwise. I don't believe this because I actually think that everyone is being sincere, I believe this because it makes my life easier and less stressful.

i think sincerity is my default setting. i'm not saying that to brag, and it certainly gets me in as much trouble as it does me good.
i don't look at sincerity as some kind of moral virtue as much as i look at it as a way to communicate directly. i don't have the time or patience to blow sunshine up someone's ass when i can just say what needs to be said, directly yet respectfully, then move on to the next part of the discussion. a good rule i follow is a saying a dear friend of mine once growled many years ago, when she was being really quiet and someone asked her why she wasn't chatting more. she said: "i tend not to speak when i have nothing to say." if more people followed this simple philosophy, we'd have a lot less problems in the world.

I have been told that ppl thought I was being a snob when I do that. It is just my style I guess. I learn more by being quiet and observing. It is true..if more ppl would shut the hell up when they have nothing to say then the world would be a better place. Ok.. I will it now.

I will it now. in person, i am more of a quiet/observer person as well. the only time i really have diarrhea of the mouth is when i'm drunk, and at that point i not only am aware i'm spouting nonsense, but i'm trying my damnedest to be as nonsensical as possible. generally speaking, though, i like to choose my words with care so people understand what i want to say, rather than just keep babbling and hope the right words eventually come out before i confuse a person into an early grave.
