Just an innocent thing, but cute. It was very charming I love Germans. I went to Berlin for a few days while I stayed in Prague. I had a great time. I really miss that place. People were friendly. Only thing is, in the clubs, people kept walking up to me and saying "You, You a ganster right? A homie?". I was like uhhhh I don't think so. One guy swore I was Mike Tyson too . not just the basic grammar , etc., but the actual nuances of our humor. I noticed that you understand both the dry, almost lifeless British humor, as well as the more vibrant, totally superior American humor. You also understand sarcasm very well. How did you learn English? Do most of your friends speak it to the same skill level as you? Do you ever fee self-concious about it when you speak as opposed to typing? I find all of you fascinating with your skills: rushing07, Hamsterhuey, Istensteak, Jami0Mckay, serious, teacher, CarrieMpls etc. etc. kudos to you guys! . [Edited 3/20/08 7:02am] Superior my f*ckin arse. What the hell makes you and your Bushificators think you are superior to anyoneelse. The whole idea of this thread is typical of a nation that has no idea what is goin on in the world beyond Riki Lake and Operah. Sitting there on top of your celulite mountain range looking down on the rest of us. For your information America is two continents. North America is shared between you yanky doodles and Canada. For your information Europe is a continent populated by a people intellectually superior to your trailer trash mc donald slaves. English is actually the native language of the United Kingdom which is situated in Europe explaining the fact that Brits are also European and yes very clever at English. By the way, in the rest of the world we have WORLD atlases giving us an overall veiw of the planet enabling us to grasp the concept that the US is not the be all and end all of everything. Slide down from your fat-mountain and run along to a good book store, there in the corner on the top shelf covered in dust you may just find such an enlightening book.

Berlin is the most exciting city in Germany IMO. I'd love to live there . I was there 2 or 3 times in the early 90's and then again I think 2 years ago for a week and it had changed so much for the better since back then. They were being friendly about it, but I didn't like it . I liked how the city itself was built. There is alot of culture. Alot of things to do. From the moment my friends and I arrived, we noticed a difference in how friendly the German citizens versus the Czech Citizens.

At school, age 12. But I did extra lessons by peering over English song lyrics and trying to write my own. Also, my Prince collecting made me buy English mags. First Smash Hits, then stuff like Sky Magazine and Rolling Stone. But what perfected it was BBC CeeFax; a service they have that subtitles 95% of BBC programs for the deaf. Put that on and not only do you hear how it is pronounced, but you also see how it is written. I forget the fact that foreign programs in Holland are not dubbed (as in Germany and France) but suntitled, so you can get THE FEEL of a language. Imago said: Do most of your friends speak it to the same skill level as you?
Yes. Imago said: Do you ever feel self-concious about it when you speak as opposed to typing?
No. I think in English, most times. Now bugger off.

I was in Prague for 1 or 2 days once and I loved the city a lot. It reminded me a bit of Vienna . I don't remember much about the people being unfriendly or not. I must say that the most friendly people I have ever met were in the USA. Germans are said to be not friendly at all, but from my experiences that's not true, they are okay . Austrians are considered to be very friendly and charming, but honestly I don't think that's true at all . Hence Madonna's new accent. I think Madonna's new accent sounds like one of those old bi-gone era actresses like Bette Davis or Joan Crawford, only when they've grown older and had a few strokes. It just doesn't sound British. Kevin Costner even did a better job in Robin Hood, Prince of whatever.

As a European orger I can say that English is very easy indeed. I was taught pretty much from birth, humour is genetic. Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!
