im getting a new tattoo for my birthday-maori design

went to chat to an indigenous tattoist today and hes going to get me to come in for an hour-tell him my story-how and why i came to be in NZ-my family-myu goals etc and from that he will design a unique freestyled tattoo!

i feel quite priveledged cos im not maori and its quite an honour!

Don't do it. Why would you get it if you're not a Maori
Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

becouse i went in asked would it be acceptable for a non maori to get an indigenouis tatoo and also as i have a kiwi child-he said it would be and as its a personal tatoo with a story behind it then its fine-infact he was impressed with the reverence and respect i approached it

i mean how people do you see with"celtic"armbands who arent remotely celtic?

I think those people are stupid.

I mean, of course, it's up to you, but I would never get a tattoo of something I wasn't personally involved with, whether it be a band, religion, cultural or astrological symbol. Whatever. It's up to you though.

It's up to you! If you like it, or have some reason you feel you need it, go ahead. It's your body, do what you will with it, and all that jazz, no?
