Mach

Are you owed ?

I was just talking to a person about a personal issue and they mentioned

"well they owe you more then that "

eek

and I was left thinking

well I do not feel they owe me anything at all

hmmm we're not talking $ here folks

do you feel you are owed something or that you owe a person something
( besides $ !! )

I guess I just do not think on those lines or if I do I am not aware of felling like i am owed or owe

hmm

and Oh - owe is a weird word too

they edits

Because that person saved me from a meaningless cynical outlook on existence.

I owe an eternal gratitude and appreciation to my entire family rose...and to God for placing me within such a strong, loving and supportive unit. I've always felt that way.

I think the use of "owing" someone is just another way of saying "showing appreciation"...at least that's usually how it's used when I hear it. It's usually used when someone doesn't show "enough" appreciation, I guess. Not sure how your friend meant it, though.

As for me, there are definitely people (outside my immediate family) that I've felt I owed something to, things that I felt they deserved from me...be it an explanation, an apology, an ear if they felt the need to talk about something...things like that.

True

I guess she felt I was owed something when that thought did not come to mind for me at all hence finding it odd

I don't do what I do to be owed something is what I am meaning I guess and I find it odd though I understand it 100% that another would think I was owed

owed is a weird word too
lol

nod Absolutely. I share the same sentiments. After all, none of us wouldn't be as successful as we are today without the support, love of our families and blessing from God/above. And, that's the truth.

nobody owes me anything. i don't like the feeling of thinking someone in my life "owes" me something, especially if it's something non-material.

"Owed" might be too strong. I expect honesty, maturity and integrity, though.
