There is show in England called the Wright Stuff and they do segments and discussions about different social issues. In this video they are talking about accents and how people feel about another person's accent. They also discuss that if another person changes their accent it is considered offensive. Are accents really that important in the UK if so can please explain it. What is your opinion on this.

i'm californian, and i drop my slang unconsciously when talking to people who aren't from here. it comes back immediately if i'm excited or talking to other people from so cal, though. lol i don't know if i'm faking anything, it's like they said, some of it you just can't help picking up.

My accent changes depending on the place I'm in.

I can do southern very well. I'm not talking the exaggerated "Redneck" accent, but just a slight southern drawl. I can slip right into when I go to Alabama to visit.

In Florida, I slip into a psuedo-new yorker thing, and at work, I normally sound a bit like a Californian.

It changes.

I have a slight Minnesotan accent. It comes out more when I'm around my family as my mother and brother have it BAD. But for the most part I sound like the average midwestern american.
