Of course love takes work. And it takes work from both people. Falling in love is easy. It's the easiest thing in the world. Someone strikes your fancy, you become infatuated with each other, and your every moment is filled with happy thoughts about who you think that person is and how wonderful they make you feel and how wonderful you make them feel.

True love doesn't come until after all of that is gone. And true love does take work from both people in the realtionship, because no one is perfect. Not you, and not your partner. And the sooner your realize that, the sooner you can begin to do the work of staying together and staying in love, if that's what you want.

But it takes effort, at the same time, from both of you. It can't be one person at a time pulling the weight, or doing everything for the other person, or working on him or herself while the other person isn't doing any of that. Even if you switch roles at different points, it takes both people wanting it and doing it at the same time.

I guess it's the difference between falling in love and actually being in love. Falling in love is easy, and a lot of people don't get past that point, or they think that is the end goal. But, you know, easy come, easy go, and that phase goes pretty easily and pretty quickly when life comes barging in and each person comes to the table with a set of emotional and mental baggage that they didn't have the foresight (or interest) in warning the other about up front. Being truly in love takes getting past that, and it takes both people being willing to get past that point and maintaining the love, affection, committment, devotion, etc. to make it last.

lol Mon badgered me for years about getting a puppy, saying 'if we're not going to have a baby yet can I at least have a puppy?' smile

If we can have a baby girl we're thinking either Wiranyupa or Rachawadee. Haven't thought of any possible names for a boy yet, should we have one.

This is the first time in my life that I have not had a dog. It has been almost 5 months since I have had one. It seems strange but I am not sure if having a dog here is such a good idea. It also makes it hard to travel when you have a pet.
Awwwww I cannot wait until you two start a family. I really do hope it happens.

You're not sure about having a dog in the UK? Why? I always think we'd be crazy to get one here, but in England everything's just perfect for having a dog.

We've some complications to sort out, unfortunately, before we can have a baby. I took Mon to the hospital the other day to check her out regarding her operation before and it seems the remaining ovary has some 'adhesions'. It's a wait and see situation but she may need more surgery. We're staying upbeat though and she's got some medicine to take for a month and we'll see how things go.

We just spoke about names and we thought Rachawadee would be too much with my last name, Richardson, so what do you think about Wiranyupa? You can see we're being positive about everything. lol We're going to raise a child/children whatever way it happens. smile

I guess it is just the rain/mud that turns me off here. Also the fact that the houses are much smaller than what I am used to. I love Willie who was a Miniature Schnauzer but I do not want another small type dog. I am still trying to figure out what breed is best for us. I am also living with someone that has never owned a dog..there could be a lot of training for both him and the dog.

I am so glad to hear that you are both staying positive about the whole situation. I am so sorry to hear that there are still complications but I am feeling positive about it as well. I always look at it this way, if it is meant to be then it will be. Your way of thinking is great as well.. I know that you will both make great parents and you will raise a great family one day, no matter what.
I would seriously consider adoption myself because there are so many little ppl that need a good home.
Best wishes with all that you face. I know that having a positive outlook on it is going to help a lot.
Lots of love and support to both of you.

lol at 'there could be a lot of training for both him and the dog'

Yep, well the doctor said her uterus is slanted, for want of a better word, but he didn't seem unduly alarmed by it. He said the adhesions weren't necessarily a major problem but that we would have to stay on top of it all and come back for more check-ups. He confirmed that Mon's still able to have a child so that was the big plus of it all. We're just waiting to get thing sorted and to get the all-clear to go for it. boff lol Hopefully it'll be later this year. There's always adoption or artificial insemination, but it hasn't come to that yet. I think there's much to remain upbeat about.

And thank you. hug
