MY LITTLE GIRL JUST GOT CAST ON TV SHOW OMG! Over 2100 kids tried out for this show, and 5 auditions later my little girl just got cast on an Emmy winning television show for the next season! (Fetch! With Ruff Ruffman) She is gonna have a blast and be a little celebrity for a season!
I am sooooo proud of her! This is more exciting than when she came home from the hospital for the first time! Family members are calling our house, sending cards and flowers of congratulations! Ruff Ruffman is the animated host...he's a yellow dog...he's totally neurotic and very funny. He is the one who sends them out on challenges...last 2 seasons some kids went doglsedding....NASA spacecamp.....swimming with dolphin....learned to do something on a trapeez...exploring in caves.....learned how to round up cattle.....some had to scuba dive for items.....its sooooo cool! Its mostly math and science challenges but its seriously funny Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

While your daughter must be very talented, I always worry about the long-term ramifications of child stardom.

Thank you--she does posses quite a few talents and as her mom, I worry about her always, with or without "stardom." I worry about her health, her character, and her feelings. The characterics that my daughter has--just her natural, normal personality is why she was cast on the show. It is not because she seeks stardom, so I'm thrilled that she is not forcing anything and trying to be someone she isn't. She is just being herself, and its nice that somebody wants to pay her to be on a show for being who she is. I'm not a stage mom by the way...the audition was just something my daughter wanted to do after a friend told her about it, so I took her. The long term ramifications remain the same if you get cast on something or not, because as much as talent is a gift, it also carries some weight. For example, there were children in her school jealous of her singing voice after she came to the school as a new kid, sang at a school function and got a standing ovation (She happens to have a lovely and powerful singing voice due to her being on a gospel choir her whole life.) So...its not being cast for a show (or child stardom) that is the source of any ramifications--its possessing a talent, any talent. The ramifications can however be influenced...it really depends on how one handles themselves. You guys know what is so ironic about being cast in this show? About 3 years ago, her drama teacher asked me to bring her to auditon for another TV show. About 700 children auditioned, my daughter was selected and was featured on the pilot show but the networks didn't pick it up.
After that...an reputable agent appeared and lots of modeling jobs and commercials were coming her way but I was turning stuff down....I wasn't trying to quit my job or anything. This stuff takes up a lot of time. My daughter knew I turned down 2 commercials and was quite dissapointed but I explained that I had to do what was best and keep my job. So I'm just happy she has this opportunity and at the same time, I'm in a position to support her. And even if the stardom thing doesn't work out, she's earning money that can go towards her future/education etc...
