 I have that when I have really bad colds...the fumes from the cough drop also clear sinuses  I squeezed half a lemon into a cup of water with a teaspoon of honey.. it worked wonders

Look at the back of your throat and look for plaques, or white patches. If so, get checked for strep....
Here's one link: http://www.webmd.com/cold...onsillitis Strep throat, untreated, can lead to rheumatic fever, and affect the heart. I know someone who had a sore throat for months, and when finally treated, (it was strep) had myocardial damage. He regained his health after a year.
