That would be a 3-4 day train trip, minimum, not that it's technically possible, as I don't think there are any cross-border passenger train services. But that's 4,000 kilometres to travel by train. I work for a railway, most trains can't exceed 50 mph, so you can do the math.

The other info, is probably united airlines/air canada partnership would be fairly efficient.

you can get a north american rail pass... 30 days of travel on either rail line

as you can see there isn't a lot of back and forth between the lines. i've never traveled by train so don't know how it works. i guess if you can get from a canadian station to an american one then you are good to go.

it would be a lovely way to travel through the mountains and see the country. but it would probably be quite a long journey. canada and the states are big damn countries. we usually fly when we have to cross the country like that.

Jony, I can attest the women in both Vancouver and Detroit are beautiful -- like night and day, but beautiful.

BUT Detroit is SOOO far away from Vancouver! Unless you must go, why not try somewhere much closer -- and, in my own opinion, more interesting -- like San Francisco! If you went to San Fran, I guarantee you'd LOVE it!
