Doing the pilgrimage!

Ok - so this is my very first thread on the org! How exciting!!! biggrin

I've just booked my flight from Manchester, England to Minneapolis - arriving 25th July and staying 3 nights before travelling on to Chicago, St Louis, Memphis, Nashville and ending up New Orleans where I fly home on 14th August.

Any suggestions for good nights out in any of the above places will b gratefully received!

July is a lovely time to be in Minneapolis. Unless it's ungodly hot and humid, but that's pretty rare.
As a Prince fan, you must visit First Avenue and see the Prince display at the Hard Rock Cafe.
Other than that, what are you looking for? What do you like to do? Where are you staying (downtown, outside of downtown, etc.)?

I'm staying at the Minneapolis International Hostel - doing it on the cheap u know! It's in Washburn Fair Oaks according to my map - don't know if that's downtown or not!!! As for what I like to do - good restaurants, good bars, places to groove the night away!

You can't go wrong on 2nd Avenue... BB King's, Wild Horse Saloon provide everything from soul to country... Farther west but still downtown, the Exit/In has some solid alt-rock acts... and there are tons of clubs/sports bars that have live music most nights. Among them: 3rd & Lindsley (where you should catch the Wooten Brothers' set, if you're in town on a Wednesday), 12th & Porter and 3 Doors Down.

Typical! Not one person has mentioned the time travelling device on 7th West 319th Street in Minneapolis that can take you to First Avenue at any point of your choice between 1980 and 1985.

It's cheap to time-travel at only $31.21 per hour, but alas, like the old TV show Fantasy Island, once your fantasy is over, you're faced with a tragic end of career in TV shows.

Red wine really does make me create stupid posts.
