Could you coexist like this??

I was having a conversation with my cousin here in Atlanta and she told me how she would have the perfect relationship if the man in her life could be on the other side of her home. I mean doing his thing on his own and they would come together only when they "wanted" to be in each other's space. Call each other to see if they wish to go out or have dinner together and not be all up in each other's space all the time.

She went on to say that he also could not sleep in the same bed with her. Not because of him, but she doesn't like sharing her bed. He may snore, hog the blankets, whatever, but she is really down for a non-intrusive relationship but would like to live under the same roof.

I know how hard it is sharing space with ANYONE especially in tight quarters like an apartment and such.

What is your perfect situation in sharing space?

Being that I haven't lived with a boyfriend since I was 17 (yup, 17), I've no idea what my ideal situation would be.
But since I've lived alone for about 6-7 years I think there would have to be a LOT of compromise involved. I'm used to doing things my own way, alone. I do like the idea of each having our own space... But I also like sleeping/waking up with someone.
If I ever partner up, he's gonna have to be able to deal with me needing lots of my own alone time. And if that mean he's gotta hang on the other side of the place sometimes, then, yeah. lol

Exactly....I am big on being in my own space as well and silence is just fine with me too. I don't like being prodded into conversation or having my buffer zone breached all the time. Let me be on my side of the house and don't bother me til I come out of the darkness....then I am all yours.

I know a married couple that sleep in separate bedrooms.

I don;t know about all that, but it could be hard sharing the bed with a snorer, a wild sleeper or cover hog.

I have lived by myslef for a long time, so it would probably be a little tough getting used to someone else being there all the time.

Some alone time would definitely be in order - I don't see anything wrong with that.

I don't have to be up under anyone and will gladly give anyone space so I can have some space myself.

Prince and I do this.

He's always in the studio and Im always in the kitchen.
With our huge house, we run into each other every once in awhile.
I try not to invade his space and he doesnt invade mine.

Sorry about the Planet Earth album. neutral
Its my fault because I constantly bugged him while he was in the studio.

I think separate spaces are best. I dig the idea up top though, but what happens when one partner wants to be close and the other does not? I am all for being with my lover and seaprting after sex. I snore and I wouldn't want to ruin anyone's sleep. Besides, I got literally kicked out of bed by someone for snoring. lol

No I couldn't....no offense Dex but she sounds like a woman who will be alone for a loooong time....

As far as my perfect situation for sharing space... I'd like to be able to do my own thing once in a while.... but outside of that... if I didn't wanna have someone to share my space, then I wouldn't need them around at all....
