I twirl my hair, I've done this since I was a little kid, it's usually the same section of hair too...I like the way it feels between my fingers. I do this when I'm tired, bored, nervous or concentrating.

I hate flying beetlebugs and scream like a little girl when one comes at me...not really affraid of spiders or mice or snakes or anything else...just flying beetlebugs..especially the JUNEBUG!! ahhh! I hate those things...I can't even step on one cause I don't want to hear the crunch! yuk! (this is one of those learned behavior things...my mother hates these bugs as well..actually she hates all bugs and really freaks out about it too..LOL) I also hate neil diamond because my mother hated him...funny huh?

My face shows my reactions too much...I can't help it..if someone says something to me that surprises me or anything...it's written all over my face.

I like to sleep with the TV on.
I hate dressing in the steamy bathroom...I have to open the door and blowdry my whole self or walk around untill I'm dry enough to dress.

Okay... fuck it... here are some things that might be strange:

I laugh very hard at my own jokes... even when I am alone.
I can't stand being barefoot.
I don't like people walking on my right side.
I make cat and dog sounds.
I say random things to strangers.
I sometimes act like I am taking a poll at the mall and ask random people very strange questions.
I have to sit in the same location on my couch or I am sad.

I gently bang my head on the mattress while listening to music or trying to get to sleep. I don't do it as much as I used to, but when I was a child I couldn't go to sleep without banging my head on the mattress and singing or listening to a song. It drove my dad insane, he would get all upset about it and I still don't know why. It's not like I was doing drugs or something.

I also dip my french fries in milkshake before I eat them. They're really good that way but I was always told that was strange.

I like rythmic gymnastics and I'm a Prince fan. Whenever I tell people either of those things, they tell me that I'm weird.

There are a lot of things that others have said on this thread that I do as well... maybe we're not so strange after all!

Others that I do:

I rock myself to sleep with my foot at the end of the mattress.

I buy beauty products, just to have them, knowing full well I will never use them.

I will sit and write other peoples phone conversations down or dialogue between actors on TV... without really realizing it at the time that I am doing it.

I think this thread just goes to show that many of us are the same when it boils down to it.

I can't sleep unless the TV's on. I grew up in NY with all the noise and then we moved to NC and it was so quiet with all the crickets i thought I'd go crazy so my mom bought be a TV and it's been on every night since.

I am deathly afraid of bugs. I know some may have different species names, but if it crawls, flies, squirms etc. I'm having a panice attack.

I put mayo and or hot sauce on my french fries. Not all the time, just when I want to indulge.

I talk to myself constantly, even if people are there. I was an only child for an older couple for 12 years, so if I didn't talk to my self, the tv or my toys there wasn't anyone else to talk to.

I also have a specific place to sit on the couch.

I have to sleep closest to a door.

The door to the room and the closet must be completely shut.

I have to put every light on in the house when I'm there even when it's daylight outside.

I have to have ice in any cold beverage. I can't stand stuff that's not really cold.

I drink coffee, but I put so much cream and sugar it doesen't taste like coffee after I'm finished.

That's enough. Boy do I feel better.

Well... I also do quite a number of the things already mentioned!

As for all those who talk to themselves... I don't think it's too crayzeee, I do it too... I guess we all do to some degree... at least we're aware we're doing it... it might be a problem if we weren't aware of it!

Some of the rather strange things I do (couldn't name them all otherwise I'd never go to bed... 3:45am this side )

I tend to throw whatever is in my hands in the air and catch it (most of the time!)... a la Dave Letterman with his pencil/pen... It can be anything, tv remote, bottle of water... nailpolish... books... whatever! It gets a little much sometimes..and most likely annoying for those around me! It all started when I was a drummy... , but I won't get into that!

Another somewhat dorky and strange thing I do is when I'm walking somewhere by myself... I sometimes estimate how many steps it will take me to get to a certain point (whatever the destination)... and I check to see how accurate I am... (why am I revealing this! ) I don't do it all the time... I promise

I also like to sleep with one pillow on the extreme left of my bed , and another on the extreme right... almost like buffers I guess... one on my left side, one on my right...

I wash my hands A LOT... I don't think to obsessive compulsive proportions... but yeah... I could cut down on it!

When I'm stressed I play my castenettes for a while, nothing like a little flamenco every now and then.

When I study or at least attempt to study... I always like to wear my hair in pigtails... I don't know why.. but yeah... I rarely study without my hair in pigtails!

Wow, a lot of these sounds familair. But I don't talk 2 myself... at least not out loud

As 4 the TV, I can't get comfortable and go 2 sleep unless I find something on that's interesting.
I also can't sleep without a comforter no matter how hot it is.
I put mayo on my hotdogs and fries on my cheeseburger.
When food shopping, I feel the can goods 2 make sure there r no dents or dings whatsoever. I check the boxed stuff 2 make sure the edges rn't crunched. And the milk has 2 have the freshest date on it even if it's only by 1 day.

There's some other stuff but I can't think of them right now. I'll be back

I used to HAVE to have the TV on to sleep, either without volume or up only one notch. But I spent some time in the mountains recently & didn't watch TV for a month - SO NICE falling asleep to complete silence, nuttin' but da crickets. Now I can't have the TV on, the light is disturbing...

it took me a while to think of something "eccentric" (I prefer that word to "strange") that I do, in part because I think everything I do is "normal" (at least, it's normal for me!)

but

I finally came up with 1 thing:


you know how most people, when they eat ketchup with French fries, they pour the ketchup in a puddle to the side of the fries or directly on the fries, as much as they like. I don't do that, because 1) I'm obsessively neat with certain things I do, 2) I hate to waste condiments, & 3) sometimes- mid-meal- I decide that I want to eat the rest of my fries plain, so what I do is:

have the ketchup bottle in my hand & put just the right amount of ketchup on each fry, 1 at a time (or 2 fries at a time, if I'm really hungry).

The irony here of course is now I'm not eating any deep fried foods at all until December 1st. For me, that's a veritable challenge..

thank God I've still got PIZZA as a "comfort food"!



there are other "quirky" things I do, but I think they're really to trivial or silly to mention...

Come to think of it, I prefer to sit when I shower as well. I'm not sure why.

I set my TV alarm to come on at 3 am and i set my alarm clock to come on at 4 am. Then i just lay there and listen to both until i get up at 5 am. My tv is set for pax tv and my radio is set to the christian station. So i lay there listening to someone preach while worship music plays.

All my shirts must face to the left in the closet. If I find one facing right, it goes to the laundry.

Dress with my left foot first (pants, socks, shoes).

Allergic to all metal on my face, arms and hands.

Cannot stand for anyone to touch my neck.

I can't stand things between my toes or fingers. When (IF) I get married, I don't know how I'm gonna stand a ring on my finger. And I cannot wear sandals that go between the toes or those hideous toe socks!
