Curse of King Tutankhamen?

Death Shall Come on Swift Wings To Him Who Disturbs the Peace of the King... Is supposedly engraved on the exterior of King Tutankhamen's Tomb.

Many have died since coming in contact with King Tutankhamen's tomb and a lot of them were very strange deaths... do you think there is really a curse or do you think they deaths were caused by mold spores?

I believe in both. I think some may have died from a curse of sorts, but I also think that others have come into contact with bacteria which brought them to their deaths. Now, I am not one to believe in anything like a curse... however, we are talking about a Pharaoh who lived thousands of years ago... who knows... stranger things have happened.

Would you go and visit the tomb or would you have reservations about it, even if you didn't really believe in a curse? I wouldn't go, I don't think, because I would be afraid of the mold spores on the paint as well as the possibility of their really being a curse... just to be safe, I would probably stay away.

On another note here... what are you thoughts about the Archaeologists cutting King Tutankhamen into pieces to remove jewels from his body that were stuck like glue from ointment used on his corpse? Do you think these should have remained intact with the King, or do you find it okay to have chopped his remains up so that we can feast our eyes on the beautiful jewels? Me? I think it's just wrong. He was laid to rest with them, they should have remained with him.

We got into a heated argument about this yesterday, so I won't post all that here... smile

Two points:

There is no such thing as a curse.
Ownership of items beyond death is a farce.

I disagree... mainly on the last point.

Wouldnt "ownership of items beyond death" be constituted as "historical" and the body as an "archeological find" therefore all should remain intact?

This is the very reason that I am gonna be cremated.

I don't want to be some archeological find, have my body desecrated, and my jewels stolen..

Curse, I tend to think that this did exist at that time. As far as visiting no, why do I want do disturb the dead..

But then again I was interested in seeing his museum display. The splendor of his ornaments were incredible.

They are incredible... I agree!

Couldn't they have taken pictures or constructed pieces throughout time, similar to these, and put them on display? I guess it wouldn't disturb me so much if they were not pieces that were on his body or in his tomb. If they were just laying around somewhere fine, but they were buried with his body for a reason and I just don't feel that it is right.

I see this disrespectful to his soul wherever it may be...

Then I look at the Pyramids and know that there is a reason for whatever happens in life...

Maybe his life was lived so that eventually someone would discover and explore a life previously lived.

The only way to survive death is to be remembered in history or by your descendents... King Tut would be happy.

I have visited the grave site... and I didnt catch any strange vibes. Actually by today there are explanations for the weird happenings after the tomb was opened... dont ask me to dig them out now, but I have read about them while I was down there...

I heard about this curse from watching an episode of unsolved mysteries. I would like to visit Egypt one day. I would still visit King Tutankhamen grave site even if I die over it. I'm afraid of death, but I know one day me will die that’s just life. I do think Archaeologist should have lefted ancient Egyptian jewels alone. They should of remained in the pyramids. Its ok if they like wanted to take pictures of the beautiful jewels lefted behind by the Egyptians. If people wanted to view the jewels let them walk inside the pyramids to see the jewels instead of at some museums where it doesn't really belong at.

Since I don't believe in any curses, or supernatural bullshit...

I'll go with the mold spores, and the old coincidence thing. wink

I hope to be an anthropologist one day, you know, and it makes your latter questions harder to answer. However, if I had been in that position, I would have preferred to study Tutankhamen, not chop him up just to take some jewels.

I also believe in the Tutankhamen murder theory...I definitely believe he was murdered by Ay, as was his wife/sister, Ankhesenamun.

You become a product of your thought, "as man thinketh". The fear of this curse is bound in the words that have been projected into our minds. It remains the truth, and if your not sure of this statement, ask your self what u fear, then ask yourself why...
