Still...that is A LOT! The most I paid in the heat of the summer in Florida was $200 and that was just for a few months tops.
You just won't admit that they rob you here.

I'm in a small apt so it's cheap, but I've never paid over $42 boxed

lol & it's usually only $23 but I warm up the bathroom more in winter smile

I'm kinda weird - I don't need my place to be toasty all the time. When I feel cold my first instinct is to put on a sweatshirt shrug

Damn, I'm cheaper than I thought lol bananadance

I live in a 5 bedroom 2 story house and use fuel oil 2 heat the house and the water,I just purchased 150 gallons and that was $436.00 dollars.Which will last about 45 days ! Needless 2 say that I can not get assistance because I make 2 much a year. Also there is no baseboards upstairs,so the only heat is by using space heaters,so the electric bill is about $90.00 a month! So fuck that the upstairs is not used alot in the winter ! I live in and old plank board farm house in North East Pennslyvannia so needless 2 say the winters here are cold,2 day we saw a high of 19 degrees. Then come summer I use 2 window air conditioners and that works pretty good, plus on nice brezzy days I crack the windows open ! All I know is that the cost of keeping warm is totally out of control here in the US ! Its all about the big shot oil companies getting rich and fucken us ! pissed
peace PEACE.....It does not mean 2 be in a place where there is no noise, trouble,or hardwork. It means 2 be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart ! heart

I'm on a budget through my heating company. My heating bill is usually $160 EVERY month. This month was $120 which means I probably overpaid in 2007. I really like the budget program.

I was gonna say... usually you can get on a budget plan so you can pay around the same all year round and aren't hit hard during the extreme months.

I don't pay heat separately, that's included in my rent. It's a Minnesota state law. smile

Yeah, I have that in NYC, too. $79/month for electric & gas all year round for a one bedroom. Heat is included in rent. smile

But I just moved to a new apartment and ConEd can't do the budget thing until I've lived here for 12 months. mad So the first month was $29 and last month was $49 (not sure why it went up so much!). I'm gonna get killed in the summer, though, because I hate heat/humidity and will leave the ac on while I am at work because I have to have my apartment cool when I come home. I'm sure it will easily be $100/month then. confused

19 windows eek

Let me see... 10 people in the house... Me, Mon, Ta, Noum, Uan, Nee, Game, New, Mae and Phaw... last month's electricity bill was 1,800 baht, which is about $55. Not too bad really considering we run an air-conditioner, 4 TVs, 3 fridges, 2 computers, countless stereos and DVD players, cable TV, a washing machine, fish tanks, and about 6 or 7 fans. smile The trouble with having so many people is there is always stuff on, 24/7, 365 days a year, but thankfully it's cheap out here.

During the summer I'd say it goes up to about $70 a month.

I live in a 3 bedroom semi-detached with 2 kids, 4 dogs and a husband -
I pay - wait for it - £78.00 per month for both gas and electricity.

If a company is getting too greedy, I move company and start my payments off low again!

Holy Crap!!!!

I think it's largely becasue your houses are made of paper.

Phil - get some insulation! I just moved to a big old house with drafty windows and doors, poor insulation and all of my utility bills come to under 100 a month. Turn down the heating, turn off lights and put a sweater on!

I keep turning the heat down. It must not be the heat that is running up the bill. We do have a large fish tank but still...seems crazy to me.

NAh its cool, it is starting to go down anyway because when i switched i maintained my payments of 80 a month on each and now they are gonna drop it they said quite dramatically so i should see the benefit of changing companies.
I am thinking that my beautiful but tree hugging g/f might now make me turn off the heating for my babies though neutral wink
