how high is your electric/heating bill?

i have central heating in a 3-level + basement apartment. our state electric rate went up 72% last year, which wasn't as bad because it wasn't really all that hot and i could get by with ceiling fans and window fans for the most part. but my december bill was a whopping $500!!! i thought it couldn't get any worse until i got my $615 january bill mad how the fuck are people supposed to live? i'm not gonna walk around a cold ass big apartment and still pay over $400, so i might as well be comfortable-- i hate being cold.

when I lived in Florida our electric bills used to be $200 a month in the summer and that was keeping it at 74-75 inside. We had a large house to keep cool and a pool.

I cannot imagine how ppl can afford their heating bills this winter. Everyone I know is saying it is extremely cold.

I'm lucky because I use the heat only two or three nights a year.

The bills during the winter are about 200.

In the summer when the air conditioner is running 24/7, the bill is about 300.

I'm on a budget through my heating company. My heating bill is usually $160 EVERY month. This month was $120 which means I probably overpaid in 2007. I really like the budget program.

I have a 1500 square foot condo...and my combined utilities (gas and electric) have never been been over $150.

Of course, my place is a townhouse with only one exterior wall. That helps.

only things that are electric are appliances and lights
$15.31 basic fee + (218 kwh x $.0938) runs about $45 month
(converts to 743846.876 btu? )

natural gas - i'm on equalized payment after tiring of $250 bills in winter and $30 ones in summer.
this is for heat and hot water
basic fee $12.50 + (310.27 cubic meters x $ .3169)

i know my usage is in metric but it would be interesting to know how much you are consuming or paying per unit consumed... my bills are for one person in a single story house.

I was gonna say... usually you can get on a budget plan so you can pay around the same all year round and aren't hit hard during the extreme months.

I don't pay heat separately, that's included in my rent. It's a Minnesota state law. smile
