I think the whole marketing-with-a-backstory was both intriguing and irritating. It seems like for the first time the marketing was as least as important as the actual movie. I just wish both made a little more sense.

I, on the other hand, used to love watching Godzilla movies when I was little, so this is the adult answer to that.

It's just a popcorn flick with a hint of very sophisticated impressionistic style created by the "home video" rule of presentation (done with great strength in the pioneering "Blair Witch Project") and the prerelease-marketing (also pioneered by Blair Witch Project) of fake newscasts, fake websites, fake myspace pages. Coloverfield stuff is all impressionistic like abstracted art. That's what also pisses of people looking for pseudo science logic. It is not meant to have solid answers. It is impressionistic just like the show "Lost". It boils down to the mood and logic of a dream.

i was literally like most of the movie

it was pretty unique.. I think that they should be very wise with the next one.. i hope they don't blow it like most sequels.. they have an opportunity to make an equally good sequel

Now that I've watched them all, I can tell you that the site is run by Jamie Lascano — she was the drunken, passed out girl on the couch at the party. A few months ago, she fell in love with Teddy and started posting video messages online to him. As of today (1/24/08), there are 11 videos posted. We see that after the first few videos that Teddy has stopped calling Jamie or and hasn't been answering her messages. We find out that Teddy has been investigating the Tagruato corporation and their drilling operations. He was able to get some of Slusho's secret ingredient and send it to Jamie, marked "Primary Evidence — Jamie, don't eat this" (Video #5). In a recording, Teddy tells Jamie that if she receives his message, that means that he's been abducted by Tagruato. Unfortunately, Jamie, thinking it's Teddy's way of dumping her, does not heed the warning and proceeds to eat some the evidence (Video #8). The remaining videos shows Jamie, who still doesn't believe Teddy's story, acting strangely, seemingly affected by what she ate. The last video (#11) has Jamie getting ready to go to "this thing that Lily put together" — obviously referring to Rob's going away party, the same night of the attack."

Pretty insense movie . Saw it Saturday evening in a dead theater, director's hall with an awesome sound system. Very ionteresting and unique cinematography.

with blockbusters, i've learned either to go into it with a blockbuster mentality (neeto monster, lots of things go boom, moron characters who say and do dumb things) or else don't go at all. every once in a while, having the blockbuster mentality pays off because occasionally a big dumb popcorn movie will actually be a lot of fun, like this one.

well, it is pretty original in that the main characters don't have any idea what's happening to them and they never really figure it out. most movies would have them all suddenly packing heat and waving nunchucks halfway through and they'd magically be experts in monster slaying.

amazing ride.

It had my sold out theatre half in shock, but in awe.

I could argue pages on how it's not dumb, just like a Pollack painting is not dumb in comparison to a Michaelangelo.
