Have you tried Proactiv before?

Has anyone tried Proactiv before? If so did it work? I ordered it because i'm tired of this acne that popped up on my face after I recovered from my tonsilitis surgery two months ago. I've never seen my skin look so terrible before since middle school when i was going through puberty. Some of my friends said it worked for them, some of them said it didn't, so I guess I won't really know if it will work for me or not until I try it.

So what's your story?

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Everyone I know that has used it says that it really dries out the skin. So, only if you have really oily skin, you wouldn't need to supplement with a heavy moisturizer.

My daughter tried it when her acne was out of control, and she looks fantastic. However, if you stop using it the acne slowly returns. It's best to keep using it, but fuck... it's not cheap!

Considering the results, it's worth the price.

I recently used it and it did nothing for me after a month, after trying this and many other acne medications I went to a dermatologist and he gave me antibiotics and acne medication for my face. After three months my skin is almost completely clear. One thing he told me was that it was not going to go away over night and that I had to be very consistent with my treatment and that different people react to different treatment differently so that not because one thing worked for that person was it going to work for me. So maybe had I used Proactiv longer, it may have worked or not you just have to give it a try and see if it works for you

Buy it from the mail order I believe the price is cheaper.
There was a vending machine for it that I bought it from and all together it was just over $70.00.

I think they are kind of like Starbucks. Pro-Active has made traditional acne products raise their prices.

The girl at the mall told me it pretty much came out to the same price as the one they sell on TV because you still have to add tax and shipping to the TV price

I thought the kit in the picture above was like $50.00 and that doesn't include the acne spot treatment, which is an additional $18.00. Add tax. Voila, $70.00.
At that price you ration/ use ever thing sparingly.

so tax and shipping add up to $50.00? Isnt it advertised for 39.00?

They have so many different packages, I guess you choose what you need, the more you pay the more you get. The one they advertise on TV is like 19.99 I think but thats only a one month supply, I bought the same kit at the mall for $25. But they were trying to sell me that $70 kit as well

I started getting periodic breakouts & nothing was working so I tried it, works for me. As far as drying out your skin it really can BUT you have to find the right balance for you. Like they recommend using the "drying lotion" every day & night, which would be murder on my skin. So I only use that when I see something erupting. I use the cleanser day & night, the astringent only @ night. You can also customize your kit accordingly - instead of one of each of the core 3 products (cleanser, astringent & drying lotion) mine has one cleanser & 2 astringents b/c I don't need as much drying lotion.

I also like their Oil Free Moisturizer for nighttime, it's awesome.

I only know of one person who it didn't work for but her skin is super sensitive & she can barely wear anything without breaking out shrug

I have tried it in the past. I didn't see enough difference in my skin to keep using it.
My skin is really sensitive and oily. I did not notice too much drying when I used to use it.
Back when I tried it, it was cheaper if you ordered directly from the makers of Proactiv but they did that auto shipping thing.
I must have a smaller face than most, that shit was coming before I was half of the way through the bottle I was using.
I would probably give it another try if I had the money to spend. My skin drives me insane!

I use it everyday as a face wash. I use a prescribed topical acne ointment
and take antibiotics every other month to help prevent bad breakouts.

I've never tried Proactiv but I did the dermatology thing. The antibiotics and topical drugs they gave me worked really well. I had tried other types of treatment previously but they didn't help at all and actually made my skin worse. It is important to stay consistent with your treatment and NEVER sleep with your make up on.

I've had a few friends try Proactiv and they did not have great results. One friend said it bleached some of her clothes.

I've been taking antibiotics for three months almost I hope once I stop that the acne doesn't come back confused

but I plan on doing what you do, using some type of acne wash and use my prescribed ointment

Thanks for the advice. I'll definitely take all of this into consideration. I only got like the $19.99 one just to try it out, but it may make me a winning customer. Like you I have tried everything and even went to a Dermatologist but they only gave me certain prescriptions so that I had to keep coming back for freaking follow up visits with me paying co-pays almost every other month. And the medicine wasn't even working, it was just drying my skin out!! So I stopped going. Then I tried Neutrogena, that worked for a while, but its been over a month since i've broken out and it isn't working like it did before.

She was wearing her bath robe as she was washing her face and some trickled on the collar.
