Just got done read this for the 4th time. It's basically about a kid and his involvement in the American Revolution. Without giving too much of the plot away, the kid's brother joins the Continental Army, while his dad is still loyal to Britain. It has several similarities to the movie, The Patriot...the book came first thought (1974) Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

Just finished "Clapton" the autobiography of Eric Clapton. I read Patti Boyd's bio also.
Currently reading "Cancel Your Own Goddam Subscription" by William F. Buckley Jr. Next: "Military Misdemeanors" by Terry Crowdy, about military personality defects, vice, and slip-ups. And then, I have a book on WWII facts and stories, from the Armchair Reader. (have to get my WWII fix in)

Pretty informative about his state of mind, when he did his best music. Plus some gossip from the era. I read it in a few days. Same with Boyd's bio. An easy read.

I love good ole space opera's. As a kid I was so thoroughly addicted to SF & fantasy that these days it is hard to find new good stuff.
Alastair Reynolds's Revelation Space is all I look for in a book; crazy, driven characters and a story that keeps propelling you on. Dr Dan Sylveste, an archaeologist who has for years been fascinated with the long-dead alien race the Amarantin, is about to discover something that could change the course of mankind. But before he can act on anything his wife is killed and he is captured when a coup sweeps across the planet Resurgam. Meanwhile, an astonishing ship bearing a crew of militaristic cyborgs and a kidnapped Gunnery Officer is bearing down on Resurgam, crossing light years of space to enlist Sylveste's help to save their metamorphosing Captain. Only Sylveste, or, more accurately, the software programme containing his father's knowledge that he carries in his mind, can save the Captain. None of them can anticipate the cataclysm that will result when they meet, a cataclysm that will sweep through space and could determine the ultimate fate of humanity.

I can't wait for the new book... Odd And The Frost Giants Synopsis Odd's luck has been bad so far. He lost his father on a Viking expedition, his foot was crushed beneath a tree, and the winter seems to be going on forever. But when Odd flees to the woods and releases a trapped bear, his luck begins to change. The eagle, bear and fox he encounters reveal they're actually Nordic gods, trapped in animal form by the evil Frost Giants who have conquered Asgard, the city of the gods. Can a twelve-year-old boy reclaim Thor's hammer, outwit the Frost Giants and release the gods?

at the moment, "Slaughterhouse-Five" by Kurt Vonnegut (always a favorite), "The Collected Works" of Khalil Gibran (beautiful), and a self-help book that is what you'd expect of any self-help book: somewhat helpful and somewhat not. "Half of what I say is meaningless; but I say it so that the other half may reach you." - Kahlil Gibran
