It's rather gruesome. Even though it is poetic justice, in a way.

Maybe if it was going to be a barbeque, so the bull would die anyway, but if the bull wins he gets to take off through the city and everyone eats a salad. At least there is a fighting chance there.

nobody dies and there's hardly any blood in it ... the protagonist gets what he deserves too ...

I'd say nay from my point of view, but I won't judge the people who do attend this kind of event. I've been to a corrida once and I must say the atmosphere is contagious, allthough I didn't feel good about it.

I didn't like it. It was horrible to watch the bull go into riga mortis and then die. It was akin to watching someone being badly beaten up. We left early as my friends' girlfriend was in tears. I will not be attending another.

I read Hemingway's "Death In The Afternoon". With actual bullfighting, the bull is injured prior to the show, and at a disadvantage in bullfighting. With all the Ava Gardner glamour, a fair show would be a healthy bull, not already bled out.

There would be a drastic reduction of matadors.....
