What makes the water so blue?

I went to this blue lake yesterday

(no colour correction made, this is what it looks like. I laughed aloud when I looked at it)

it used to be a volcano, now it's a blue lake.

If I had to venture a guess I would say the volcanic residue in the water effects the wavelengths of blue light being reflected towards that end of the spectrum.
Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it.

Lakes are but bodies of water that fill depressions in the earth's surface.

Depression makes you feel blue.

Simple, ain't it? geek

I just looked it up:

"The famous Blue Lake of Mt. Gambier was formed out of a volcanic crater, which last erupted 5000 years ago...not too long ago in nature. The Blue Lake mysteriously turns from a winter grey colour to a brilliant azure blue in the month of November, lasting till April. This has been a mystery for many, many years...until it was finally scientifically explained to be attributed to a special algae that grows in the lake."

It's something to do with the different colors and how they pass through water & the atmosphere.

Blue gets absorbed more than red, for example, and cleaner air/water just amplifies the effect, because you see the light, not just the dirt.
