I agree, the zoo is more than just animals, they have done an amazing job with the landscaping there, so many cool plants!

Great pics. I love our zoo here certain areas are so peaceful, besides it is for many of the animals it is the only ensured way of their continued survival.
I always think of the condor, I actually got to see one in the "wild" a few years ago, thanks to the efforts of our local zoo decades ago.

they had a few Kowalskis horses there! I was sitting on the wrong side of the bus though pout they were thought to be extinct, but zoos are breeding them.

There was some truth to the story, though. The San Francisco Zoo DID, in fact, have a tiger exhibit.

yes, but she obviously didn't like it. It's a very sad story, I shouldn't joke.

I think I actually saw her up close myself. I once went to the feeding of the tigers & lions. you get to see them from just a few feet away, through bars, and the tiger actually roared as the meat was being put down. It was one of the most powerful displays I have ever seen! Most tigers in zoos only walk in circles or sleep.

yes, it's terrible. But I want to see the animals, so I go to the zoo. It's a dilemma.

Beautiful photos.

Meercats mushy

That blue wren is stunning. One of the things I remember most about Australia are you native birds, they are so exotic. I was once just leaning in the kitchen eating breakfast and a parrot walked across the windowsill.

It was a bit of a shock to come back to pidgeons lol
