Phobias

Hi All,

Everybody has got phobias, some are really interfering in people's lives or some people don't know about them yet.
I am terrified about rodents and I just can't deal with it anymore and I will go for an hypnotherapy session next week. Has anybody tried it?, did you have any good results or not?.
Thank you for your feedback!

I've been hypnotized four times, but it was in a comedy club. I did some cool stuff, and the funny thing is, I remember it all.

The hypnotist said that he couldn't make me do anything I wouldn't do normally. What hit me afterwards was that the idea of saying "no" to anything he asked just never crossed my mind.

So I think hypnotherapy could work. The therapist might be able to convince you that when you see a rodent, fear is not an emotion your mind will generate.

I hope it works because I too am terrified of rodents.

Dogs. I was bitten when I was very young, and have been sort of emotionally scarred by that, I guess. I ain't scared of tiny yappy type (chiwauas or anything) but bigger dogs. I know they usually won't do anything, I just don't like them.

Heights too.....
Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

I'm claustrophobic. I especially hate elevators.
Not too fond of escalators either actually.

I don't like it when I can't move, like being wrapped too tightly in a blanket or sleeping bag, or that fetish where you are in latex and can't move your limbs.

I guess I'm scared of bondage.

Isn't this a legitimate fear though? One could really hurt herself or lose one's life in certain situations.

shrug me too. This summer, I had to carry a box of records up a spiral staircase that started at the basement, and I was on the main floor of the house going up to the top level. There wasn't any vertical boards in the steps. eek

flying cockroaches
drowning
crowds

Some of these are debilitating and I try to deal with it the best way I know how, although it's tough. When I was younger I believed that the mind was so strong that you could overcome anything if you really wanted. Funny story: Once when I was about 5 or so I thought that I was invincible against the waves so I stood at the shore with my hands on my hips with a fierce look on my face in an attempt stand my ground. Of course the force of the moving waters proved my 5 year old theory wrong and I ate the sand. lol Maybe this is how my fear of drowning started. hmmm

My fear of cockroaches is actually quite entertaining to other people because I will stand there and try to catch a centipede, but go running and screaming whenever I see those flying cockroaches. shake Scared of 'em!

Well I understand what you mean but since the last incident (Wednesday evening) I did not go back to my kitchen, sounds stupid but it is true. When I am faced with rodents, I have the worst physical symptoms (cold sweat, shaking, feeling sick, etc..). Gradual confrontation is not even possible I am afraid, when you feel desperate and want to sort out the problem, hypnotherapy is an alternative to sort out the problem. I can't let this phobia run my life so this is the solution I found. I will keep you posted.
