Have You Ever Had To Take A Polygraph (Lie Detector) Test?

I never have (thank God), but if I did, I would be as nervous as anything.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Same here. I could be innocent as the day is long and I'd fail it, guaranteed.

I didn't think they were used anymore, owing to the fact that they don't work.

They don't work? I've seen them used on talk shows such as Maury Povich and Dr. Phil. Usually they are used in paternity tests, when the mother is trying to determine if a certain guy is the father of her kid. They seem to be pretty accurate, I dunno.

Not sure! My theory is that it's a measure of nervousness, etc.

Background is that I had been arrested when I was 16 for stealing a basketball from a store. Fast forward to when I was about 25 and I was getting a job where they had me take one. In my mind, I knew that I wasn't a habitual criminal, and that it was only a one time thing, so it wasn't relevant to the new job. So when they asked me if I had ever been arrested, I said no. Got a call the next day that I got the job!

They do say that the polygraph measures your heartrate or blood pressure or something like that. If one of those two goes up, it means that you're not telling the truth. So I guess a person taking a polygraph needs to do what you did: stay calm, cool and collected. It's good that you were able to get a job offer.

It measures your heartrate, bloodpressure, breathing, and the amount that you sweat.

Ah, thanks. I didn't know that it also measures your breathing and your sweating too, that makes sense.
