ok, so women are smarter

men spend stupid amounts of money on porn, whatever way you look at it

be it mags, films, cabins"<--you wankers know who you are", strip joints, whore houses, hotels with escorts and of course the internet and much much more....

and who wins?

ah well, you all know the answer to that

I'm on a bus coming back from Oxford stealing its wifi. I feel like such a geek sitting here on my mac whilst everyone else reads the paper. I guess though it does have adverts everywhere saying free wi-fi, and I did use it to write that essay I was failing to do last night.

Today's been pretty weird actually - prepared the essay (as I did the other one) on the 20-minute train from where I live to Oxford. Got to Oxford sat in Caffe Nero and started the essay; managed to do 10 mins' worth of work before friends came to say hi. Talked to them for an hour, then got on this bus. Beasted the work on the essay; got it done in an hour and 10 mins.

I think that I should basically work when on the go, and never any other time. I get so much more focussed.

I'm not a huge fan, but I'm not an anti-fan either. I wouldn't and haven't ever paid for it or purchased any, but it does the trick once in a while. My tastes are fairly specific, though, and most that I've seen ranges from boring to bordering on disgusting.

What are your tastes specifically? And is the thrill simply a visual one, you think?

(Pardon me if that's way out of line to ask)
[Edited 11/29/07 8:18am]

eh. I'm not gonna talk about the really specific stuff here. lol
I will say, I rarely find anyone in porn attractive.
I like to see a woman having a good time, but the really cheesy acting most of them do is very off-putting. Not always, but often, even with the amatuer stuff.
And I prefer some care to be taken in the overall aesthetic as well. Camera angles, lighting, color sheme... Just cause it's porn doesn't mean you can't make an honest effort.

The "thrill" is way more than visual. In fact the really close up clinical stuff is way boring to me. It's auditory (big time for me, I have a thing about voices, sounds, etc.) and emotional as well. And by emotional I don't mean love/romance either. lol

I'm actually struggling with this subject. I like porn but lately I've been feeling a little guilty about it. I do feel it's degrading but I still like it. Not all porn. I'm not into fetishes or anything. Just like to see a couple fuck, that's all. I'm fascinated with porn in a way. I like to read the actor's books and watch them on 20/20 or Dateline. And from that I get to hear their stories about how they ended up in that business, which a lot of them come from a bad home. This is where my guilt comes in. I'm also upset by the fact that the porn industry is one of the few where a woman is paid higher than a man. That sickens me. I've haven't watched a porno in a while now and don't plan on it but I do enjoy reading dirty literature every now and again. You have to be careful with that though because some of the those short story books include excerpts about unclefuckers and kissing cousins. barf

One good thing about porn is the more I watched it, the more I became comfortable with my own body. The nudity started to look more natural and I became less self conscious.

Me too. There are two or three porno chicks that I see and it's like "Damn!" but most times they're just bleh. Too much makeup.... I don't like the extreme closeup stuff either.....

Regarding the topic at hand, my girlfriend and I watch porn together every now and then and she digs it some. Not like she loves it or anything, but she doesn't mind watching it every once and a while. She does have one of those girly porno books though.....

I understand there is a growing visible demographic of women who enjoy -- and spend money on -- porn.

Are there any female porn fans here? And if you're willing to talk about it, could you tell us what you get from it? Do you think it's precisely the same thrill as some men enjoy?

In so far as the degradation issue, I think there is definitely some porn out there that can be degrading to women, quite intentionally. That's definitely not of interest to me. But by the same token there is also alot of fetish porn out there that can be eqully degrading to men.

Since I live in the EU, I'm used to porn being an accepted part of daily life. Most major cities here have red light districts that are the equivilent of commercialized tourist attractions, and nightlong nudity and sex advertisements are on network television beginning at about 11:30 pm each night. It is also normal to show nudity in a non-sexual fashion here during daytime televison for product advertisements, specifically for health, beauty, hygene and birth control products. It really has made me very open and relaxed in my attitude to nudity and seeing how others express themselves sexually. One of the nicest beauty advertisiements I've ever seen was for a skin cream for expectant mothers, and naturally the model was nude. She looked absolutely wonderful and I thought the spot was beautifully done. But such an ad would never be shown in a million years in the US..!Anyhoo...

With all the material available via the internet these days I don't pay for porn. What's also interesting is that I'm starting to enjoy amateur porn more and more, as I appreciate the authenticity of "feeling" while people are engaged. There's nonthing I can't stand more than all of that faked, staged moaning that exists in the standard porn industry production. lol

Actually, that's not entirely true. There is wishy washy couple porn out there where it's said a lot.

But, there are also many people (myself included) that believe that sex and love really have nothing to do with each other.
