In School, did you ever have the desire to pull the fire alarm? I always wondered about it, and knew kids who did. But I was weary of the myth that ink would shoot onto the hand of whomever pulled it. There is a little tiny hole at the top of those things, so I thought that's where the ink shoots out and basically thought better of it. It's like one of those things where you'll never know what'll happen until you do it.

SOOOOO... I have this fire alarm pull thingy in my kitchen. I have NO idea if it works or not. My Building is small...it's a 4 flat. I wonder if the one in my kitchen would work or not. I am curious. It doesn't even look like it's attached to anything.

Would you pull it? Should I?

Don't, unless you wanna piss everyone off. I hated when jackasses used to set off the alarm when I lived on campus. One time I had to go outside in my robe, , because someone set it off right after I go out of the shower. It wasn't as bad as this one particular dorm where people would set it off on a daily basis, a lot of times in the middle of the night. Funny to others, but I know if I had to get up and wait outside at 3 in the morning on a school night, then I'd be pissed.

yeah i did it. once at 3 a.m. in the morning. people were mad but i didn't care. my friends shouldn't have dared me

If your building is connected to a central office monitoring station, then not only will you evacuate your building...but the Fire Department will respond. The former may sound fun, but the latter is a waste of tax payer money AND could possibly jeopardize someone else's life if there is a legitimate fire elsewhere and they get delayed by responding to a bogus call.

Not bored...curious. I swear I can look behind it and it looks like only thing holding it up is a screw and nothing else. I really think it's super old and has no function anymore. Like the intercoms and door buzzer.
