For mine, I use sweet peppers, banana peppers, chipotle/jalapenos, habaneros, and a shitload of cilantro and lime on top of a 'regular' salsa recipe.

Do you like sweet salsas? Chunky, or liquefied?
Oh shit, my hat done fell off

I can eat a whole tub of pico de gallo if I'm not supervised. redface

My best friend has an insane chunky mango salsa he makes. It's got a touch of spice but is great as a 'sweet' salsa. I've just emailed him for the recipe for ya. wink

Pardon me for my naivety, but do you get a decent array of central/south American produce on the east coast? Are things like small peppers, avocados, mangos, guavas, etc relatively cheap, or are they costly for you?

I have a friend in Montana who doesn't even know what avocados taste like. lol So I don't want to fill this thread up with impossible recipe lists. redface

NICE! clapping It would be so fantastic if you could make that happen in the future!!

boxed What a silly fear, but the mere thought of getting near one of those beautiful creatures gives me childhood nightmare-like sensations.

On a lighter note (lol), here is what I've got so far for that mango salsa. It sounds wacky, and I don't remember tasting most of this stuff. It's via text and I've asked for specific amounts and instructions, so hopefully they will come later. The ingredients are:

Mango (2)
Jalapeno (1)
Red onion (to taste)
Cilantro (to taste)
Fresh lime juice (to taste)

Not very helpful, I'm sorry. He's in Idaho right now and his recipe is home here in CA. I've asked about specifics on the 'to taste' portions, and whether this is chunky or pureed, or a bit of both. confused

Also, this sounds sweet AND spicy. As for sweet salsas, I had a half-baked apple/pear cinnamon-lime salsa that was incredible. I'm trying to find it right now.

Fear of an animal that far outweighs you is not silly hug They can out run you and overpower you. Generally though they can not outsmart you. They are amazing athletes and if you are ever blessed to be on their team, earn and give them respect, it can be a very powerful experience.

There is a delicious kiwi salsa recipe on allrecipes.com I used at this job I used to work at, where I did product demo's and had to do kiwi that day. It was wonderful. I'll try to track it down again. I tweaked it a little bit to suit my own tastes when I made it, but I had a million people begging for the recipe that day.

that one's not it. sad

All I remember is I put some green chiles in there cos I had no jalapenos, I used kiwis, and fresh tomatoes, and the spices I just added til it tasted good. And garlic... and the lime juice, and a bit of cilantro.

I ought to be able to find the damn thing around the house if I keep looking!

2 cups fresh whole kernel white corn (I have used frozen sweet yellow/white combo- thaw first)

2-3 large tomatoes, diced
1 large jalapeno peppers, seeded and diced
3 green onions, sliced
1/3 cups chopped fresh parsley
1/4 cup finely chopped sweet bell peppers ( I like to used red, yellow & orange)
1 (4 1/2 ounce) can chopped green chilies, undrained
1/2 cup olive oil
1/3 cup red wine vinegar
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/4 tsp your favourite hot sauce

Combine all ingredients, and toss gently. Cover and chill at least 2 hours or overnight.

Serve and enjoy !!

I could not find my black bean one but I have added one can of black beans to this recipe.
