Seen any good movies lately?

I can recommend Michael Clayton. Fantastic dialogue, great acting, perfect pace. Nice directorial touches throughout. A thriller/drama with brains and maturity. thumbs up!

Have you seen any good ones?

I really just don't see moveis anymore. I don't know what happened.

I saw 30 Days of Night 2 weeks ago. It was OK. I hated the ending.

Too restless maybe? I know a lot of people who are like that these days. Youtube snippets are okay, but twenty minutes into a real movie they start to get the jitters. lol

Nah, it's not even that. I just don't seem to go. I guess not much has interested me in a long time.

That's what this thread is for; helping you find the good stuff. Now you know Michael Clayton is worth seeing, and I'm sure people will add more. thumbs up!

I saw The Kingdom last night (I know...I'm late) and I quite liked it.

It was extremely intense and the ending reminded me of American History X in a way...so, you know, not a feel good movie but a must see, imo.

Okay, interesting. I've only seen the trailer and my impression of it was summarized quite well by a couple of the reviews on rottentomatoes:

"The film's American heroes are depicted as pig-headed, offensive bullies who claim the moral high ground but in the end can solve their problems only with guns and car chases."

"So shameless is The Kingdom, ignoring consequences and treating its audience like cash-dispending machines with buttons to be pushed rather than thinking individuals willing to consider the reality of America's entanglement with the Middle East."

But who knows, maybe there's more to it than that? shrug

i didn't find it that way at all. In fact, after I saw the movie, all I could think about was the reality of America's involvement in the Middle East. I also think that both the Americans and the Saudi's come away from the movie looking pretty over confident and very one sided in their beliefs.

It is an action movie, though. So don't bother going to watch it if all you want to do is ruminate over existential bullshit. It seems to me that those reviewers may be a little upset that the Americans don't look like knights in shining armor when all is said and done, making this movie more realistic than not. But..you know..it is an action movie. wink

Go watch it. nod

Beowulf was really entertaining. smile Whether it's "good" or not, is highly subjective though. Strangely, whether a movie is good or not doesn't really affect my enjoyment of it. Anyway, another which is isn't really a movie, but I can't help but think of it as one, is the video game Snake Eater. I just finished playing. It's so cinematic it really feels like a movie. Anyway, the story is great and the ending is really touching and sad. The last one I'm gonna say is Kontroll. It's this Hungarian movie about a guy who works as a ticket taker in the subway and there's this murderer down there throwing people in front of trains and he's kind of trying to get to the bottom of it. It's mysterious and cool and the soundtrack kick ass. See it.

I saw Beowulf last nite. Fucked up, weird, and very epic like Jason and the Argonauts.
Maybe we can go to the movies and cry together

I recently saw Mysterious Skin.

What an incredible and powerful film. I couldn't stop thinking about it for days afterwards.

That's okay, I was just asking what movies you've seen lately that were good, not necessarily new ones.

That's a Gregg Araki film, right? I've seen Nowhere, The Doom Generation and one more where the title escapes me. They were all a bit too over the top for my taste but dazzling nonetheless. I've heard that Mysterious Skin is moe subdued and that's probably for the better.
