Life would be so much better if everyone can just be honest with each other.
True or false? Why? | |

Ex-Moderator | I think it's generally best to always tell the truth. But there are times for blunt honesty and times to tell the truth as delicately as possible.
Some people don't get the difference. |

I don't know about better...but at the very least it would be interesting to know where everyone stood, for better or worse...

...and times when it's best to just shut up. Then there are acceptable white lies too, but usually I don't think they're necessary.

Honesty for sure. There have been times, particularly recently, where honesty has sucked big time, but the flip side is I sleep well at night.

Some people don't get the difference. I agree. But sometimes it doesn't even matter how you say it because some people just don't wanna hear the truth at all.

I understand what everyone is saying.
But, its confusing sometimes whether to be honest or not. Im generally an honest person. Not saying I've never lied before because I have. Like just a few minutes ago my friend came over with this outfit on that makes her look like a straight up hooker. Im not gonna come out and say "u look like a hooker". So i didnt say anything. But then she asked me "how does this look?" And thats when I was honest and said u look like a prostitute. She got mad and left

I think with anything that might compromise your integrity or character, you should always be honest. Everything else, such as the question above about the outfit, use your own judgement. One thing is for certain. She won't ask you any more questions that she doesn't really want the answer to.

i need honesty. i don't care how it makes me feel. better that than behind my back. with others i can be blunt but more often i tell it nicely. but its rarely a lie.

It's nice when you can be honest with someone but not everyone wants to hear the truth. Rhythm floods my heart♥The melody it feeds my soul

I don't think so. Sometimes it is best to not be completely honest about everything.
Honesty is ideal but not all the time. Sometimes it can be so much worse than just keeping things to yourself.

And there's room for both.

You can always be honest by saying, "You might not like my answer, so I'm not going to comment."

True or false? Why? that answer is both.. it's an individual journey.. some ppl hear honesty and accept what is.. .. others hear honesty, turn a deaf ear, lie to themselves and live in denial... honesty can hurt sometimes .. some cant live with that..

I'm not sure honesty in general is a good idea.
For example, if someone liked you a lot... wanted to spend time with you... but you really disliked this person... would you tell them the truth? Would you say "I don't like you. I don't want to spend time with you." Wouldn't you mind if someone said that to you? I don't think anyone wants to hear that (including myself), even if that's the truth. They say they want to hear the truth... but when it happens they end up bitter/angry/hurt... Honesty isn't always the best policy. Especially in relationships. [Edited 11/19/07 3:24am]
