Do you ever find sometimes you are a nobody?

I have friends, alot.
Family, alot.
Acquaintences, alot.
Colleagues, alot.

But in this world, who are we really? We are a tiny, tiny speck.
We work, we get paid, we love, we eat, we produce, we laugh and cry.

Maybe this is too much thought for your grey matter but what stops us from being nobody? Or just somebody?

eek Love is the greatest thing, that is my excuse.
eek confused eek

You were made by God.

God does not make mistakes.

You are somebody.

When we die, we will be judged.

The fact that our lives will be judged means they have meaning.

This is my belief.

So, by that logic if you're an atheist your life has no meaning?

I think we make our meaning
but for me it's harder without feeling a deeper connection to the cosmos or something larger than myself.

We work, we get paid, we love, we eat, we produce, we laugh and cry.

There's extreme and real value in each of those things...

Maybe this is too much thought for your grey matter but what stops us from being nobody? Or just somebody?

Everything you just mentioned...the fact that we work, we earn, we love, we eat, we produce, we create, we laugh, we cry, we feel, we experience, we learn, we grow, we improve, we progress...those things keep us from being "nobody", our lives from being "nothing"...

but the Buddhists would say this is all samsara, the wheel of birth and death, ultimately illusory, a transmigrating relativity which has no substance

And that there's a difference between the ego self (which is insubstantial and fades) and the Self -- the all pervasive, eternal consciousness which lies at the bottom of everything and to which we all belong

Anxiety

i am nobody/somebody/toomuchbody, depending on my surroundings. i usually find that how significant i feel in a certain setting has more to do with my own feelings of self-worth than it has to do with any actual social standing i may or may not have. i think obscurity is actually a good thing. if something i create becomes popular or successful, great. i'd rather put good thoughts into the world than just have everyone bug me all the time because i happen to be me. whoop de freakin do.

No. But also by example, one can be very popular and still be unimportant in the world we speak of.

I wanted to know, who is a nobody, what is a nobody and are YOU, ME a nobody?
I guess we are.

I think we all recognize the fleetingness of existence on some level. Change is the only constant in this world and clinging to anything leads to pain and loss. One needs to seek something deeper to feel satisfied and at peace. Whatever that is and whatever you call it. Where is that thing that does not change, fluctuate, and die?

But in comparison, does that make Einstein, Dali, Churchill a somebody to your nobody? Therefore your life is hmm, mundane?

Did God request more of us? Or just want us to be happy in our own little lives?

Wouldn't the mere fact that they believe this render their philosophies meaningless and of no value?...lol wink

the mind (and its philosophies) is an aspect of the ego, a game with no substance

the truth can't be reached through mentation alone

a person does not become enlightened through thinking
