Any hardcore Monty Python fans? Trying to find a sketch. I'm not giving you much to work with on this, but hopefully someone'll know. I've been googling and haven't had any luck.
It's a skit from the series (I think) and all I can remember is that one of them is dressed as a woman, and I think she's supposed to be some sort of TV host. She's sitting in a chair, and the phone next to her keeps ringing and she's getting frustrated. The last time she answers it, she says something to the effect of "Hello, I think you've got the wrong number" and a giant glove or hand punches her in the face, knocking her over. It cuts fast to another skit. It's been over ten years since I've seen it, but I'm trying to find it for a really lame inside joke for the other person who saw it with me at the time. Anything? Oh shit, my hat done fell off

Also, I can't remember if it's an actual large hand/glove or if it was one of their illustrations. UGH! Oh shit, my hat done fell off

Why am I trying to find it? My little stepsis and I were watching it one day. I had to have been about 13, which made her 8. She laughed so hard at that sketch that she choked on her popcorn, stood up to get water, and while laughing, tripped over the coffee table and bumped her head, breaking her Discman and spilling a 2-liter of soda on my stepmom's brand new persian rug--which caused me to laugh uncontrollably. I think I even peed a little. It's just a really funny memory and I'd love to send it to her. Oh shit, my hat done fell off

Are you wearing your poppy with pride? I don't think wearing a poppy signifies anything except pious self-satisfaction/collective guilt/pack mentality. It's the thinking man's crucifix.

It's the thinking man's crucifix. Funny how something so intentionally 'conscious' reflects more of a reptilian urge to belong. What about people who are afraid to remove hats, though? What do you think that means? Oh shit, my hat done fell off

In my case, aching fear of imperfection. Which is rich considering my face.

I don't understand Monty Python both in terms of the surrealness of some of their sketches and the humour. 'The Life Of Brian' is funny though. There's Joy In Expatriation.

I just think it's shit. Public schoolboys flashing their willies. It's very much of its time. Even Life Of Brian angers me. The flippancy, the oh-so-wacky oh-so-daring backslapping in-joke camadrie, the Englishness, the shitty script, the wkward improvisations, the charisma fefinct cast, the obviousness, the one joke ridden all the way to the end, the haircuts...

Ignoring organised religion completely makes more sense to me. Either that or kill all mentally ill sky-god believers and burn every text and reference in a big fire. Any other opinion is just sitting on the fence and that's just as bad as falling to your knees for an obviously evil deity.
