Why Did I Get Married?

Tyler Perry has a new movie out called Why Did I Get Married. One of the costars is Janet Jackson. Despite her bein ghuge the movie won't be in major theaters.

I was lintening to Tom Joyner last morning and he was saying that mjajor movie companies wouldn't carry it. One other DJ was saying it was cause major motion picture companies don't want black money. Don't know how you feel about it but Janet didn't say anything about it.

Tom Joyner was upset cause he supposedly worked on it. He was saying that it could only be carried in independent movie theaters. Has to be the smallest movie Janet Jackson has ever worked in.
Working up a purple sweat.

It reminded me a lot of The Big Chill. Janet made me cry during her big emotional scene. Jill Scott needs to act more because she did a really superb job.

its in major movie theaters around here.
I hear the crowd sucks though cause they dont know how to shut the fuck up during the movie, so it may just be better to wait for it to come out on DVD smile

Interesting, Tom Joyner said it wasn't playing. I checked Moviefone.com and they said it was only in independent cinemas. I check moviephone with my cell today and it's allover. Either it was already in major theaters or they changed their minds and carried it overnight.

i dont buy that.. cause picture companies are only concerned with one color.. and that's green .. if a star is huge and that star brings in big bucks...that company is picking them up.. Tyler Perry just isnt in the Denzel group yet..and i also remember an interview T.Perry did when 'Diary Mad Black Woman" came out.. a certain television station wanted him to do a sitcom on their station..and he said they didnt want him using the name "Jesus" on the show.. so he told them.. bye .. and moved on .. if companies are giving him a hard time.. it's cause of 'beliefs' or his projects arent raking in enough money, not cause it's a black show/movie .. ..and oh..wrong forum

I think what Tom Joyner was referring to is that, even tho 2 of Tyler's previous films have debuted at #1 he's still not getting into as many theaters as some of major films. Tyler was on The Steve Harvey Morning Show talking about this on Friday. He said that on average a movie gets into a little over 3000 theaters and Tyler still gets only about 2011. He says he's still being treated rather unfairly or like "it's a black film so ppl aren't going to come out" despite the fact that he's had so much success. He just told everybody to go out the first weekend because those are the numbers that they look at. I did!! I hope you did too.

Okay im seriously late... but I saw the movie last saturday and seriously loved it... I didn't expect that from cheap tyler perry.... I didn't think he could create a movie that great... I was expecting the worst because
1. Tyler perry directed and wrote the movie
2. Janet was going to be acting

I was surprised... and won't talk bad about Tyler that much..

anyways... I think janet over did it with the acting.. she used to much facial expressions and had her face wrinkled everytime she talked.... she looked as though she was angry in the movie.. and

another thing.. when janet was in the kitchen with that guy who plays her husband in the movie... she starting yelling.. and that really disturbed me... I hate hearing Michael and Janet yell... or act "ghetto"... and she sounded just like MIchael when she was yelling to....

I think the acting in the movie was great with a few exceptions of Tyler Perry's wife and Janet..... Janet was Good... but something just seemed so strange and i couldnt get past the fact it was janet.... Just seeing her act is always strange to me.... I kept thinking about lil penny :penny:

she looked better during the promotion for the movie then she did in the movie...

My post is also late.

But I enjoyed the movie. It was better than i expected. I wasn't expecting it to be so "real", just a comedy, I thought. I really loved the "stank-attitude" woman, she was my favorite! lol (the skinny one with the beautiful bob [hairstyle]). I look forward to seeing it again, actually.

And where I saw it was definitely at a major theatre, United Artists Theatre. shrug

*(ps- Some of you were talking about the audience being too loud. I'm so glad I went a little late cuz there weren't even 20 people in the theatre when I saw it and even they were loud (this one dude kept cussing out Tylers wife, lol especially on the "testosterone part")
