I'm gonna be a geisha!!

I found a super pretty kimono and picked out an obi at a thrift store. I saw a neat-o "couture" geisha wig at a store I was at earlier so I just need to pick that up tomorrow and some white face paint and I'm all set.



I love make up costumes.

When I was skinnier I wanted to wear the Japanese kabuki make up with the kabuki wig and a really short kimono. From waist down I wanted to look like Dale Bozio from Missing Persons. Wouldn't that have been crazy?

I can't believe how well the kimono fits me and how good it looks. It was all wrinkled and whatnot and I just kinda threw it on over my outfit to see if it would fit ok and thought, eh, this will have to do. I got it home, ironed it all out and tried it on with the obi and it fits me like a GLOVE! It's gonna be perfect! I'm actually excited now.

OK, I get excited any time I get to wear a new outift.

It's not a cheesy costume kimono, but it's certainly not an expensive one. There's a thrift store here that has racks and racks of them, but most are pretty dingy, all are used, etc. There are a handful that are decent, I happened to find a good one. The obi is kinda nice, though. Altogether, it only cost me $19. I'll spend more on the wig than the entire outfit.
