Ex-Moderator | I had a lovely saturday lunch today.
I made soup with veggie broth, carrots, green onions, some cubed tofu and a bit of black pepper. I warmed some kind of mexican bun I got at the bakery in the oven to pair with it. It was a delightful little lunch. |

I love my sunday roast!! That sounds GOOOOOd! I bought a small hen at the store today so I'm settling on a roasted lemon chicken. I let the hen marinate for a few hours in olive oil, coarse sea salt, and lemon zest, then I stick fresh parsley, garlic cloves, and thyme leaves under the skin, and a sliced lemon inside. I will probably serve with a grain like quinoa or wheat berries seasoned with herbs and chopped onions. Then lastly I will steam up some romanesco, a really pretty brocoli from Italy that has triangular shaped spears, and shave fresh parmesean over it...I don't know why but I like my meals heavier on Sundays...

Well, today at some point I'll be eating the leftover pizza from yesterday (it was buy 1 get 1) and some nice sweet and sour pork I kept from yesterday too. Leftovers, but good stuff. For dinner I'll probably ask Mon if she'll fix me some pasta with cheese sauce with chopped bacon or ham added.

Now that sounds super yummy! It's just a creamy cheese sauce from a tin though. Still, pretty satisfying once you get bacon in there.

Well the roast is in the oven for the next 3 hours so that the pork is succulent and to get a good crackling on the outside will blast it n a high heat for 20 mins. The smell is invading the house....now to peel the potatoes and get the sausage stuffing ready. The kitchen now has that cosy smell of heat from the oven and cooking. Its as if it is now taking over as the heart of the home...(bit of poet there eh?) "I may not agree with what you say but I'll fight for your right to say it"
